Production notes on top
Why not have production notes, either on top or at the bottom of the user-comment list when viewing an entry?
I always found it weird that it was hidden away in a menu item on the right side... |

I agree, its a serious design flaw: if one would like to read all information he has to click trough shit. |

yep. this has been asked for before. It makes much more sense to see production notes first because of the amount of comments it would cut out going...
"this is a copy of XYZ"
"yes it is, we know, and if you read the production notes you would have too"
etc. ad infinitum. |

I like it as it is, but maybe have comments as additional option and production notes as default. |

it could be hierarchical so is production notes>0 then display them else display comments.
working under the assumption that if someone has bothered to type production notes you should really read them before commenting as they may well make your comment moot or answer your question. It happens a lot.
production notes>comments>trivia |

no thanks, nothing changes just different ppl dont see what they want.
just display them all. its not like todays resolutions couldnt easily cope with that amount of text. look how much shit there is on a imdb page.
there could be maybe a max. nr. displayed of each item, and a ...more if max is reached. |

Like it matters what anyone thinks (!) haha
Comments is where it happens. Besides being a container for feedback/reactions and drama I see many entries with vital info in comments rather than under trivia, production notes etc. Probably because they are "hidden" to the right. I myself being lazy too, sometimes adding stuff to Comments.
Strange nobody mentioned tabs, which is as pretty common gui pattern :) Then again, that would prolly call for redesign of the whole site uns uns... |

we have "done" tabs on numerous occasions, all that happens is a certain mod shows up tells us we are all wrong and tabs would be useless.
regardless of how many people agree they would use them.
and people post notes in comments because it doesnt take anyone who uploads entries on here long to realise that few read the bloody production notes before they post some drivel comment. :) |

What "certain mod" are you referring too? LOL
Anyway, to display them all on one screen is obviously the best solution. No stupid click-click to see all information. An option to put the different informations in your prefered order is easy to add. In CSDb v2.0... in, let me guess, 2042? |

I agree that production notes should appear first, I'm guilty of adding production notes to comments because I suspect production notes get hardly any views.
Tabs would be a better solution, yeah (not necessarily the only solution, but an improvement that's easy to implement). And having worked as a professional web designer for 12 years, I've seen plenty of evidence that demonstrates they aren't useless. |

oh apologies, having read this again i can see that due to tiredness I misread "tabs" as "tags" and therefore was OT in my comment. |

To protect that certain mod for once, believe it or not: we actually came to a consensus the last time tags were discussed.
So tags are now generally favored, as long as trusted users enter them. The rest is up to Perff. However, seeing the unsolved problems with the comment system or other tidbits on the site, he probably doesn't have the time for improving the current UI, far from adding new features. |

Another point which I don't regard very important but which is definetely true and AFAIK Groepaz himself said so more than once, so I guess it's rather "laziness" (just kidding, let's say "lack of time") of admin team than reluctance to change it :) |
