Distorted screenshots
Something bugs me for quite a while. :)
When a screenshot is uploaded which is bigger in size than 320x200 pixels, it looks really distorted on the main release page (I mean, before clicking on it). Check out the screenshot for Koala Painter-FLI Convertor V1.0 as an example, the chars are hardly visible there.
Opera at least renders it with anti-aliasing, but it looks really strange on IE and Firefox. I know, it's a matter of one click to see it how it should really look like, but I can't really understand why it couldn't be like that immediately?

I have to agree, what you get after the first click is redundant. I think the max size should be c64res+borders and one click should automatically bring you to the doublesize one. |

I must admit that I have thought the same from time to time. I think I will expand the size of the image-display, I only need to know what the standard (if there is such thing) size of a screenshot is including border. I need to set some kind of max size. :)

Totally agree!
I don´t know if there is much difference between the most used emulators for screenshots, but that first click is quite a pain.
The pic-uploader asks us not to scale things, but every picture displayed is scaled.
Doesn´t make sense... |

Damn,sorry for the inconsistency.. ;)
Perff: I think most people use Vice for snapshots.
But ofcourse IFLI stuff is always shot with that other one. ;) |

Perff, what about checking the image size with GD or ImageMagick and put in the values dinamically? So you don't have to deal with scaling? |

@Jailbird
That was also the plan, but if some nutcase uploads a 10'000x10'000 image, I will need to set some kind of max-size.
About the scaling as it is now. I think we got the border size wrong. (we currently scale to 350x248 dono where we got those numbers) That is what I want to fix, but how big can a screenshot be expected to be? What is the normal max?

I think that a default screenshot size from Vice would be the right choice. 384x271 ? |

vice makes 384x271 pixels screenshots.. but i'd say a max of 384*300 is better ($12c number of rasterlines ;) |

Still would be cool if the 1st click would go to 200% directly. Tho there might be some pics (like the mystic tree from Valsary) that still does not fit in the main description page. |

Maybe an option that mods have to OK a bigger image to show directly? It wouldnt have to be done too many times, i think.. prolly very few screenshots/pictures around that would require it.
Or a function that a user can chose for himself to have the max restraints or no restraints. |

I use CCS64 for shooting screens, I hate that VICE always needs a file name and file extension to be entered. |
