scrolltexts

*wreg loves perff*

10th Frame

this looks sooo funny ;-)

now make it user definable:

1. if it's shown or not

2. default speed of the marquee

any other ideas?!

Wow! you can watch the animated gif of the demo, then read the scrolls! you dont have to dl and run on c64!

this is a waste of time...

this is not where i see this leading to...
if ppl stop watching something on the real thing, they arent enthusiastic about this enough anyway :-)

this just adds more data to the database, making it more complete, so if someone wants to add/edit/see this kind of data, dont hinder them, if we dont add it here, it will be done on a different site
and what do you think about the "Diskmag conversion project", you must hate that as well...

but you can perhaps use the search (some day) to for example find all demos where your handle is used in the texts and then go and watch all these again :-)

always look on the bright side of csdb!

I like the idea of having scrolltexts here in the database, but not the way it's done here. I'd rather have it on the screen all at once, for easier reading (as with the anti HCS thingy you had up yesterday).

Edit: never mind, seems I was just a mouseclick away from exactly that ;)

Edit2: I still don't like the scrolling part though. It looks lame, kinda 1998 WWW style.

You can now disable this ?funny? scroll feature. You setting will of cause be remembered.
I'm not sure if we need a userdefined speed?

and ordered by size! :)

anyway, until then, just try http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/text.php?id=xxx to get the few releases which do have scrolltexts added

personally I consider this the worst feature ever.
(Yeah I know I can switch it off).
Is this a DB or an EMU? Also nothing decreases my mood more than CPU-wasting sites. Well, to each his own

its not a bad feature on its own, but when you think that someone can load up the demo and read the text in its original context then its silly. anyhow its possible to turn it off, so...

The scroll feature has now been set to Disabled by default. Then you have to do something active to get it. :)

It was just ment as a funny little extra feature - nothing more.

PS. If you are not logged in, you will not get this scrolling.

Maybe you're not logged in? Maybe you don't even exist at all?

silly feature, especially since it uses non-compliant html. but oh well, very nice it's disabled by default.

for those who are still jerking on 'scrolling text'

the new main feature is having the scrolltexts in the database, not some strange presentation to the user

I agree with wreg here. The point with this was to be able to store scrolltext and other text from releases in this database.
That little <marquee> thing was just for fun - figure most people didn't think it was so funny afterall.. :/ Now it's gone again, and those few who think it is a bit fun can enable it if they want - if it works in their browser. (Thought about implementing some javascript-scroll thing instead?)

Anyway. Under browse, you can now find releases with or without text, and under advanced search you can search for releases containing any text you might want to search for.
