Best Music Piece

I was looking for single demo music charts.
Since there are 'graphics' charts.

Guess we'll have to do with Lala's top 100, allthough that one is missing alot of cool demo 'n compo tunes.

Maybe HVSC can make their own voting system and link it to csdb?

What a sad state of affairs our scene has come to if ppl vote for demos based 50% on the music. Hope this isn't true.

Don't take the opinion of us SID maniacs too serious, Cruzer. ;-)

I agree.
There are alot of pixels to be drawn and many lines of code to be done, and only 3 channels of bleeps on a c64. Oh, that's not a decent comparison, arpegios have alot of notes.

Read what Jereon has to say about it:
http://www.zzap64.co.uk/zzap101/lemmingsdiary3.html

Music can beef up a demo or game alot though.

Guess being deaf is worse than being blind, so sound is more important than vision.

Well, if it was up to me the demos should be rated 80% for the effects, and then the remaining 20% could be distributed to music, gfx and design. But I guess ppl find different things important, so let's not fight about that.

How about this for a CSDB feature idea... Seperate ratings for effects, design, gfx and music. Then you could watch charts for best demos in each category, or a user defined weighting of them.

This would mean an even higher treshold when it comes to rating demos. Already I find it sometimes too much trouble to do so. But then, I'm lazy.

Also, when I reviewed demos for mags like Sh0ck and The Pulse I gave seperate ratings, then used some funky formula to get the end-result. But I feel the current system I'm using (just one rating for the whole demo) is much better, after all it's the total that counts.

So no, I don't think that seperate ratings are a good idea. But maybe we can vote on it, knowing nothing will happen with those votes anyway? :)

Id give simply 33.33% for the three category.

hein: if I had to choose, Id rather be deaf than blind..

Of course, if you regard code, graphics and music as three separate entities, then by all means, give a ton of ratings on a production. I am personally more inclined to believe in synergy effects, and can think of a few examples of when both music and graphics are technically demanding enough to border on code.

If we include design and content (idea/texts) those ratings have to be devided again. 20% code, 20% design, 20% music, 20% graphics and 20% idea/content.

Actually, ideas are more important than techniques in my opinion.

Maybe just ditch the votes at all. I've noticed people voting a 1 for themselves. They probably consider themselves not to be fashionvictims or have some inferiority-complex.

I've been told that deaf people draw conclusions more often than blind people. A little bit too often now and then.

Still, I'd rather be deaf aswell, because of practical reasons and I like abstract stuff. :) Skip the details, please.

TDJ: True, I guess it's the overall impression that counts.

I was only wondering about seperate votes for favourite music piece, the ones that are not in demos (made for compos) and the HVSC has so many sids included, I'm curious what democratic votes would bring. Not considering the demo or game they are made for.
