File too large. Max size: 1024k (1048576 bytes)
The current maximum file size for uploading a file is set to 1MB.
It would be really nice if this will be increased to 3MB.
The problem with the 1MB limit is that most "other platform tools" cannot be uploaded anymore and therefore a link must be provided which will become invalid after a while.
To preserve all c64 related releases I think we should increase this limit.
An example of a lost file is:
Music-Assembler V1.0
The PDF was bigger than 1MB and therefore a link we provided. Now the link is broken and the document is lost. |

Quote:file upload limit doesn't make sense at all.
seriously? not having one would be insane, it'd be just a matter of time until some asshat trashes the db by uploading his favourite tentacle pron dvd (or a "tosec complete" zip for that matter) =P |

Groepaz, please don't change the context by quoting a single line. You understand clearly what I mean, don't you?
The file upload limit doesn't make sense at all if you can upload unlimited files of 1MB.
Even this can potentially crash the server. Better to restrict an upload amount per day or so.
1MB is not enough for certain releases. Today I couldn't upload some files and I had to rezip them to another format which means that the original format is not preserved.
Splitting the zip also doesn't preserve the original archive file.
Should I bother the moderators to upload all these files for me? |

oh it does - 1MB pieces arent a problem, but 1gb pieces are :)
the real question at this point is: why arent you a trusted user anyways? =) |

The file size should be limited to 171k, perhaps with a little margin for 40-track disks or other obscure stuff. 1Mb files are purely alien, so find another planet for them. |

Groepaz, trusted users do also have a 1MB file upload limit. It would be nice if this limit can be removed for this role.
HCL, if you aren't interested in "other platform tools" then just ignore them. Perhaps your byteboozer is the solution to crunch everything in 171k ;-) |

Quote: Rar+1mb volumes will do and is already been used, besides anyone just needs to ask a mod to host the file if bigger.
Such large files aren't really everyday uploads. Just pass the data to the mods for uploading - problem solved. |

As Count Zero says.
Moderators don't have the same limit for uploading files, so in cases like this contact them, and we (they) will get the file up.
In extreme cases you can also contact me directly. :) |
