Deletion of a release, new method

Hi, I hope Perff reads this :-)

Geir Tjelta (GT) has stumbled on a fault in CSDB, that we could correct.

He mass deleted some releases, because they are fake to him. Music demos with his music, that he did not do, althought the demos have Mozicart logo and his post address.

So, in good intention, he found it natural to just delete them.

Then the CSDB autocloses his account, and he got confused, and misunderstandings occurred.

He was a newcomer, and dont know how CSDB works.

This you can avoid in the future, here's my suggestion:

When a DELETE button is pressed, a requester should come up, explaining the consequences of deleting.

It should explain WHEN to delete, and when NOT to, but instead WHEN to click "discuss this release".

So its clear, and you cant delete without being absolutely clear about how and why you do it.

It should also warn that mass deletion will autoclose your account.

Then stuff like this shouldnt happen too often in the future.

Just my 2 cents :-)

New people should just not go about without asking anything.

People dont read manuals until all else has failed.
People dont know who makes HVSC, coz they never read the HVSC readme, people dont know STIL exists... etc.

This is nothing new!

Perhaps Rambones is speaking some truth here. I know that some old sceners come here, apply for membership and never read the help pages. Some get confused, old egos pop up, some get angry, etc.etc.

Perhaps it would be an idea when sending an application e-mail you could refer them to the rules, the help pages, but also put some info in about who to contact when you have disks left to be transferred, and where to go when you wanna check out some old releases. etc.etc.

perhaps a bigger introductory e-mail which helps them and the database?

... which is also not going to be read very thoroughly.

i guess some small lines before each Button is a much better way of bringing information to the ppl

it should be possible to turn this rookie-help off, once your account is older than a year(?) via the user-options

I'd say a certain amount of online time on CSDb would be better, since some people make an account, log in once, then leave the site alone for months...
