Addresses

Hi there,

I've a proposal to ask to the admis about the addresses of the Sceners. Actually there's only the native address but if a scener moves to another place, I think it'd be a good idea to use a "actual address" voice in the profile.
Lemme know

The problem here is privacy.

I don't mind having my old address in here, that occurs in many of my old releases. Noone of my family still lives there, but it would make identifying my releases easier (if it weren't that everything is online already).

My current address is something I don't need to see in this database, though.

Yes, having actual address in a public database accessible to everyone in the world is really stupid idea.

I think it's best to drop that "address" field completely of the database. If one needs address one will ask privately. If he is trustworthy, he will get it.

I think that the main problem is for old and inactive sceners, 'cause active members use to update their own entries. Sometimes, when I update some old italian sceners entries, I wonder if would be better to put the actual address or the place were they used to live during the old scene times. The privacy could be a problem as well, but the other question is if we are allowed to get and share infos about old and uninterested sceners.

I think the city is atleast an important thing to use in the database. It makes for easyer connection when searching for old sceners, and adding info and such to the database.
Even streetname is quite usefull (postcode and housenumber should never be mentioned).

But mostly: the info should refer to the old days. the places where people lived when they were active in the scene, and definatly not current adress.

For some sceners that I added, I trimmed the addresses down to only showing their hometown/city and county. Post-codes and actual house numbers/streets are left out to preserve privacy.

...which brings onto another matter actually.
There are a few odd releases here that have screenshots exposing their contact address (these being contact demos/"contactros"/whatever). Should these screenshots be removed? These are kinda worse because ANYONE can view them, both members and anonymous.

removing screen shots is maybe abit excessive measure, this info cant be found on google and it isnt displayed in the scener`s entry so it is necessary for a person trying to find this particular piece of information to browse a number of entries. and if hes determined enough to do it he WILL find it sooner or later seeing as everything can be downloaded, including disk magazines- a huuuge repository of personal data with complete addresses, phone numbers etc.
