I wonder if we will get a lot of wannabe investigative reports digging through the site now looking for other people to "expose"... |

Lovely, isn't it? Next all of us will get accused of terrorism by providing and distributing "secret manuals" using a cryptical underground language (assembler) or using dangerous software ("Little Koala-Shower" e.g.). Within the next 3-5 days the csdb will get added to the axis of evil.
The though itself is so funny, that I can hardly restrain laughter. ;) |

I think that comment refers to the link to *.emucamp further down in that paragraph which has "that word" in the url.
There's a follow up here btw:

Holy shit, this stinks.
I cant even begin to describe how fucked up this is.
Reading those articles made me want to puke. They are literally digging up shit and blowing it totally out of proportion.
Citing the Fairlight slogan like he's some gunslinging nut roaming the streets, shootin' them commies.
If it wasn't so sad, it would be funny. Strider the mafiaboss, hilarious.

No, it's pretty funny. I'm in California and used to talk to Tony all the time. I do worry for him though. We've had a few corrupt Republicans in the last few years and I don't think they're going to let this go. I wouldn't be surprised if warrants get issued and they start digging up his network traffic from his ISP too. It's probably going to be rough going for him over the next few months. But it is funny to read a piece like that in the paper. |

LOL, they even dug up that pic of Tony in Vegas with that stripper:

I remember that picture! Hahaha. Wow. Poor Tony. And a reminder that the past can catch up with you. |

For those of you unfamiliar with US Politics, the Republicans are the "law and order/Christian morality" weirdos. What was he doing cozying up to THAT lot?

Sure the article is a lot of crap, especially the stuff about terrorism ties, but appointing one of the worlds most notorious pirates as the head of the budget committee is pretty damn stupid :)

Certainly fucked up stuff, eh?
Specially the part with the pic with the porn star.
So, I take it that republicans have never done anything in their lives that will go against their morality shit.
I bet they are all full of shit. They are probably prevs in disguise, similar to that guy in Austria probably. These people are the worse.
United States is a weird place.

that's typical for the us. politicians have whole crews that just dig up their opponents past and if they can find a tiny little thing which makes you look bad for the crowd they WILL dig it up.
that's just so pathetic what a fucked up mentality. u wouldn't get away with an attitude like that over here. take obame for an example. hilary sends out few of her men and all of the sudden there's a photo of obama posing with some american muslims. eh? so what the fuck? but it will influence a lot of voters you bet ya.
stupid. |

The thing I find strange is how someone so into capitalism ended up the founder of a group internationally know for taking someone's commercial product, removing the protection and distributing it freely. The two things really don't add up to me. |

I find that people who say that they're "into capitalism" are mostly just "into money". So that at least is compatible with selling infringing software. ;-)
And to address an earlier post, he's not exactly some poor innocent victim whose misdeeds are being over-exaggerated. He's representative of the public, and as such his past (character-defining) actions will be held to a high standard. It might be different had he come clean about his past and had made reparations. And the fact that this is coming from the U.S. Republicans (who often preach public morality whilst living their private lives in amorality). |

Makes me embarrased (almost) to be an American. There are worse things in life than being the founder of a legendary c64 cracking group. Thought it was funny how they take things we did as teenagers and blow it out of proportion.
Hope it blows over for Tony.

the point is that the whole thing is exaggerated a shit load. afaik strider has only been active in the c64 scene, pre 1990 even. that they slander him with stuff past his time is crazy enough.
on the other hand, I think this is the wrong place to discuss anything personal. this stuff is public. |

strider was a pretty good arcade game.. "you dare fight me!!"
This is just another witch hunt, like bush knowing about 9/11, the reichstag fire, reptilian aliens controlling the world from an underground lair and the world being round.
i'd laugh if it was a pissed off democrat scener trying to get revenge for something that happened 20 years ago :) |

Seems like making the CSDB more private would only slightly slow down any determined person, after all if they wanted the info, they'd just sign up and access it. If it's made more private than that, it would become useless for legitimate users.
@Fade - You're right, more sceners with boobies would make all the difference. And one other thing, try to remember not mentioning Chrome's secret underground lair too much, OK?

Hein, it's a bit like the guy in the UK known as "the canoe man" apparently he vanished in a canoe accident..
but someone did a google image search on their name, and found out they were very alive and his wife had cashed in the life insurance on him.

There is one more way, marry the princess and kill of the father, then you are the king by definition. |

Wow, Triad (aka "Raw Story") has really taken the old ragwar thing to a new dimension.... 8)))
And yes, HCL should definately be King of Sweden. He could provide swedish groupies for everyone on X (perish the thought! 8) and make sure 6510 ASM is taught in swedish schools! :-)
Imagine that one day someone actually discovers on CSDb that HCL did sideborder-coding and made Demos with asian chicks, Erkan & Stefan and guys with beer mugs! /o\ Oh, how teh world would shiver in horror and disgust!...
No vote on the "less public CSDb" idea, cause it's stupid, since reporters have no problem at all registering anywhere for a story. Certain personal info (and pictures) should only be add-able by the person in question though.... |

Oh, and just for the record: I find this highly amusing! 8) Come on, Strider had it coming, back when we heard he was active in the republican party we were ALL like "wtf??? Strider???"
You just can't be the gung-ho harcore cracker and partyman and then turn around and play the caretaker of morality and conservative values, thinking nobody will notice!
Kudos for him saying he doesn't regret anything though! ;-) I think his days in the GOP are numbered, and personally I think that's better for him in the end! 8) You don't really wanna get involved with all those criminals, do you, Strider? ;-D |
