Wouldnt it make more sense to display the selected Mike rather than do a search for all Mikes on the CSDb database.

There's a user called Mike, and several sceners called Mike. And CSDb doesnt know that user Mike is one of the sceners called Mike. So Mike has to link his useraccount to the correct scener in the database. |

I think the distinction between users and sceners is a flaw in the design. What's the use for users that aren't sceners? Isn't it only sceners that use this database?

- most users are sceners, but not all sceners are users.
- only users use this database. (duh ;)
I don't think it's a flaw. For example, it's the way to have sceners in the database that are currently not active in the scene, or not even active at all...

If the 'Mike' in question never was a "scener" and never released anything, then forcing him to create a Scener entry would just trigger other "sceners" to whine about him adding an incomplete Scener entry or whine about him not being a "scener" and that he shouldn't be added to the database... CSDb User != Scener
And to Mike: You didn't do anything wrong, you were just used as an example ;-)

If there is no scener linked to a user, the name shouldn't be turned into a link. |
