Post your LCP stories here

Yo!

LCP is over and we're cleaning the place up now. Thank you everyone for your contributions to a smashing party! See you again on LCP 2010! ;)

So.. the purpose of this thread: Post your LCP gossip here! Who did what? Who did what to whom? ...and so on. Would be nice to read.

We left LCP, and went home. Before the last chance to avoid the Öresund bridge, i remembered that i had forgotten my laptop. So we went back, got the computer, and said goodbye for a 2nd time.

Jeff: i have your red diskbox. You forgot it at Geir's place..

It's all blanks, not even formatted :)

I guess Jeff had planned to copy lots of good stuff, but got stuck in his vodka bottle instead.

I know it has 0 monetary value, but i forgot my black C64 serial cable.

It was on the table opposite to the table where Mogwai had his C64 repair shop.

If you found it/took it, then please mail it to me in an envelope - i really need it :)

Nice party, although when I was about to leave late Saturday evening I found myself locked in what seemed like a concentration camp. I managed to escape without getting shot tough.

It was a very relaxing party for me. I was mainly focusing on socialising and getting drunk... and ofcourse looking at nice girls in Malmö ! ;-) Anyways, thanks for a great party. Was nice to meet people and having a good time.
Looking forward to seeing some photos from LCP aswell. For me there were many good+funny moments... I managed to show off a bit by farting and probably impressing some people so I can reach a higher rank in the farting charts :-)

I was sick as a dog with fever, and I had shitloads of pixelwork to do and in that sense it was my worst party experience ever ever ever. I was most likely the most boring person there eating paracetamol instead of drinking beer. It looked like you people were having fun though. :)

Still, there were some nice moments, like traveling with the two G's Glenn and Geir, being able to promote KnG (thanks again Frantic), winning the democompetition after some months of smooth cooperation with the nu kör vi-Swedes, having Oys and Veto beat me in the graphics competition, meeting a lot of nice people and getting Mogwai to fix my SX-64 (thanks a lot, wonderboy!).

Don't get your hopes up, Archmage. I hear he is picky... ;)

I want to thank all the visitors and fellow organisers for a fun-packed weekend! Also I want to thank everyone who keeps forgetting stuff in the cooler, that stuff is what we organisers thrive on when cleaning duty starts... ;)

Stash: Now when some people are getting old we understand their difficulty of staying up past midnight, so we have discussed how to adress the problem with compodelays. We do acknowledge this as a problem, and hopefully we will be able to solve it with some tweaks in the schedule and rules. Nothing is decided yet, though.

Thanks to everyone who participated at LCP, contributing in various ways: partying, submitting entries for the compo, helping me with the cleaning, and even the guy who tagged the toilets, the room in the gallery and the stairways for providing material for a huge amount of gossip.. ;) Also, BIG thanks also to my fellow co-organizers who helped me in a very substantial way with this! I am truly satisfied with the party and despite being quite busy with the organizing stuff I also managed to have a really good time myself.

Two apparent things need improvement at the next LCP:

Regarding the compo.. We were obviously quite overwhelmed with the large amount of entries submitted. Even though we expected to get more entries for the compo than we have gotten earlier years, we did not expect to get THAT many more entries. Of course, this delayed the whole compo procedure + made it even longer than expected. However, this was not known to be the case before the actual deadline since that was when 90% of the entries were handed in, and at that time it was a bit too late to do anything about it... Anyway, this will of course be different at next LCP, since you can always learn from mistakes. Probably something like having the music+graphics compo+deadline earlier, but we will see how exactly this will be handled. There is still some time left until LCP 2010. ;)

...and yes, it was way to hot inside the partyplace this year. This will of course be addressed too. Either by having the compo at another place next year, or by renting some air-conditioning-machine-something.

Individual comments:

Rambones: I didn't see a drive cable. However, I haven't yet packed up all my bags and so on.. It *might* be in there.

Cruzer: Yes.. the gates closed sometimes and that was a bit unpractical of course.. However, you could just have told any one of us organizers and you would have gotten the code required to open the gates or we would have opened them or so...

I have left a white paper bag with 20-30 c64 disks. I brought them to party just to check if there's something unreleased on them (and found a picture by Rob/Camelot that Camelot guys did not know of).
I wanted to give'em away later on. So whoever owns them now, it is ok.

It sure was an awesome party, so thanks to Frantic and all other orgas and visitors. Frantic also deserves extra special hugs and kisses for selling me a lot of beer on friday =)

I managed to get slightly intoxicated (and probably very annoying) on saturday, which resulted in me passing out before the democompo, so I haven't actually seen all the entries yet. :(

But still, great party and great people! :)

you don't need to change partylocation just because of the heat.. people who have problems with hot air can just bring a cheap fan (~100SEK on clasohlson.se or rusta.se) and the problem is solved.. worked very good at our table atleast, and we were in the hottest section of the whole party :)

Hey Stash!!
and others..

Nice to meet you all!

I love swedish parties, i think this year it was the best party so far, because the atmosphere was very special and funny.

If someone didn't get a 10 when passing the sofa in the hallway, show me something special!

Frantic: I would have found an organizer if it wasn't for the taxi driver who told me I could exit from the backside. So no big problem, just a little annoying since I was very tired at that point.

Thanks for a nice party. Not being active on the scene since 1994, it was cool to see the C64 still prospering and meet old friends and even getting some new :-)

Some criticism though: I for one would gladly pay an attendance fee of, say 200 SEK or even more to get a better partyplace with more space, better lightning, better toilet facilities and perhaps some fresh air. It was truly horrible on saturday evening, and I was very happy I did have a hotelroom I could withdraw to :-)

Anyway, this party has managed to bring out the C64 spirit again, so next year we may even release a demo ^^

Thanks again for a (afterall) nice experience!

Well... without the power loss maybe some of the people would be more on time... I know Geir Tjelta lost a lot of his work.

Funny that noone has mentioned the power loss in the "LCP stories", I guess it's all forgiven and forgotten! ;)

You mean it's the amount of time the power loss is that counts? Not how much work that got wasted during the power loss?

It was fun, and I got to meet a bunch of great people, be the first to see the breathtaking demos, and I got a little tour of Frantic's cool music editor (you'd better finish those worktunes).

My two AHX tunes (for Amiga and GBA) were composed at the party, which made me happy since I've been in sort of a writers block for the last few months, and since I got there and got home it's only gotten better.

People who save often, dont have a problem..

X2008 had 4-6 power losses, and nobody lost substantial work as i heard.

Powerless or not, Geir suffered the old-school disc too be broken on track 4. That's a difference,
otherwise, do your homework and come to parties with stuff all done all ready and no prob. Booze with your pals and watch your nifty things on the 11th hour...

I was quite upset about the power-loss a few times. I think I got about 3 power losses. But it only affected a little area in the place. So I was at the wrong place. I lost about 2 hours work, even though I had saved a few times, my disk probably suffered from this (load errors). Anyway, I got to drink and smoke cigarettes. And next time I won't compose at a party, but bring finished stuff. My "compo-tune" is getting better now at home anyways. Cheers! ;)

We´re sorry about the powerlosses, and even if Rambones is right that people should save often, it´s ofcourse something we will try to adress. However, I must stress that atleast two of those powerlosses was due to someone tripping over an extension cord, eventhough we did duct-tape it to the floor. Who was it sneaking around that close to the wallsockets? :)

The power goes out on nearly every party, so if you intend to work at the party either use a laptop, or bring a UPS (and save often!).

I saved my last and "complete" file, but due to the power-loss, the file wouldn't READ! And it wasn't really a power-loss, but some guy stumbled over a power-cord. And why was it only me and GRG's machines that went off? Also, somebody turned off my machine while I was away. Håkon's beer was stolen aswell. So somebody must've been sneaking around our place.

Foolishly, i forgot my headphones at LCP, on the table opposite to where Mogwai was repairing computers.

They are black, and named Beyer Dynamic DT-770 pro, with grey ear cushions.

If you have found/taken them, please write to jan@harries.dk (rambones) - I will pay postage so you can send them back to me, and a finders fee. These headphones cost nearly 200 euro.. Thank you!
