Looking for joystick(s) for C64
Is there any shop that still sells C64 joysticks (preferably with paypal payment option). I'm looking for some small joystick that fits in small hands and is not hard to control for child.

I used double-sided tape to attach a TAC-2 to the table - "arcade style". Worked well for a 4-year old :-) |

Both sites seem to sell only Competition PRO. It is a bit hard to handle (I have one for PC). I need something smaller, ideally with contacts that don't click. Any other ideas?

I had an Atari 2600 controller, then went to one of those Epyx joysticks (clicked too loudly in early hours), then one of those IconTrollers (by suncom), Which I may still have somewhere(which rocked).

Industrial Joysticks!! Seriously! The also sell trackballs for those of us that still use them.

EDIT... Man.. Looking through most of these, I doubt they suit your needs, but who knows right? Some look like replacements for that old coin-op machine, but some look really, really serious. The trackballs are sweet though. I doubt you get anything from this place as they don't show prices, and we all know what that means...

My c64 joystick was digital?!
I get carried away at times looking for these things. Like an info junkie, always searching and never really finding what I want.
I still say Ebay or something similar is your best bet.
There was a joystick supplier "find" in my searches, perhaps searching for that will increase your chances of finding something near home. |

The Phantom, I see it like this.
Analog joystick is modern version of old joystick. Coz it doesn't only scan directions but it's parts measure the angle and maybe even speed of the movement of the stick.
In digital joytick you have only 4 directions and fire (plus combinations). One bit for one direction. When you have one bit given to one staste.. that is digital. When you have a row of different numbers scanned in period of real time, that is analog.
Of course, in the end, movement of analog joystick is being digitalized to bits and bytes forming numbers, but that doesn't make it digital. ;-))) |

So what is exactly your problem with what I said? Coz except from the simplistic language I used I'm pretty sure that it works exactly as I said (if I didn't mess the logic in my sentences due to crappy language skills that is)
And yes I have studied electronic computer systems for 4 years (that is a secondary school where they teach you everything from soldering through microelectronics to programming.. although it was quite a long ago in 1990-1994). Plus have a degree from informatics and english language (but as you can see that doesn't make everyone excellent in written english ;-)
P.S.: the difference is well explained in wikipedia.
An analog stick is a variation of a joystick, consisting of a protrusion from the controller; input is based on the position of this protrusion in relation to the default "center" position. While digital sticks rely on single electrical connections for movement (using internal digital electrical contacts for up, down, left and right), analog sticks use continuous electrical activity running through potentiometers. |
