30th birthday of C64

Hi ppl,

in the radio they had a contribution today from a guy celebrating the 30th birthday of our beloved C64 today. Refering to wikipedia it was first presented at the Winter Consumer Electronics Show in January 1982, so this might be right!

Wouldn't this be a nice topic for some small demos? ;)

I think the date that matters is when it became available for consumers, which as far as I remember was autumn 1982 for the US and early 1983 for Europe. But it seems the media think it's the date it was presented that's important. It sure has been all over the media the last couple of days. Quote from a Danish newspaper: "A worldwide cult keeps the C64 alive today." Nice to know I'm a part of a worldwide cult. :)

worldwide cult? yeah ;-) sounds good...

btw - that means there is a big time-frame to make alot of small birthday demos for the c64, since nobody is really sure when it comes to the correct "birthday date"

How about part(s) from every active group and released at X? At least the theme is known.

that reminds me of the good old "demo of the year" (lots of groups contributed with 1 part)

if anyone wants to code a part and needs gfx, i could try to help with a logo, sprites or charset - or any other small gfx. dunno if i would have the time for a whole fullscreen (x party this year, you know... and maybe lots of other stuff to do for that)

I'm definitely in for a part, if I can get someone to do music and maybe gfx.

Well, i have an unreleased part for a demo openning. It's unused for 4 years now. Maybe it's time to use it somewhere. If noone else is up to demo openning part, i'd like to take that part. it must be an openning part because the effect starts from the basic screen. y'know what i mean i guess. :)
