c64.sk , huh?
So whats up with c64.sk?!?! Everytime i refresh the site, theres a different effect warping the look of the site in weird ways. Let me just say seeing that while i'm stoned led to some serious sanity questioning... :-) whoah. |

Yeah, I must admit I wanted to do something more funny (and not in the style "this site is shutting down) but unfortunately when I realised that it's 4 hours before 1st of april I thought reusing the trick one more time won't hurry. Funny was that on 1st of april c64.sk got visits from the various non-c64 sites. Seems like user who are visiting it and told others to check the funny stuff. This is a nice way to popularise of the site a little bit more. C64.sk usually has about 450-500 visits a day (it goes over this number only when there are some cool parties) and this year on april 1st shortly before midnight it was 806 uniques and 2826 refreshes. Last year it was even more. Anyway next year I'll try to prepare something else. I promise ;-) |

Quote: Hello.
In a serious vein, & hijacking this thread to boot, I wonder if C64.SK will have a 'Latest News' that is tailored to each user?
This is similar to 'read latest forum posts' of CSDb and Lemon64 forums. That way, I can click on the link at C64.SK and catch up on the latest CBM news I've missed.
Enjoy.

If you mean that I should add the new table to the database which would identify what type of the news it is, that is not that bad idea, but my idea is to keep things simple. I would rather like to add search engine. Make the old pages static and with fixed links to news, rss feed Seven and few more people asked me for, and such things. |

Hello, CreaMD-
Um, I mean, 'since last visit'. For example, I can click on the link in Lemon64 forums to find posts made since my last visit and not miss replies, etc.
The same rationale could apply for news tidbits at C64.SK. That way, I can get all CBM news since I've last visited your news portal and not miss anything.
Enjoy.

Aha. Yes this can be done quite easily. Thanx for tip. |

Any chance of getting a search engine that returns results in RSS format? So I could do something like rss/Search/?q=Genesis%20Project and get back a RSS feed of all the releases for Genesis Project?
A REST API that returns JSON would be even cooler.

CreaMD: just redirect the site to CSDb - you didn't want it any other way anyhow :)
Ofc might add heat on Perff to enhance the search and feeds _here_ but hey - you have to decide on which project the little spare time is best spent anyhow, hm? :) |

Redirect to CSDB would be a bit drastic solution. We would have to change the front design of CSDB to allow news adding by users, add TRASH section for news not meeting the standards the MODs have for news ;-) If this happens I'll be glad to redirect ;-)
But in short, you are totally right.
