21 sectors on tracks 36-40

I have found again, after many years Ultraboot-maker.

on real 1541 it can format and write 21 sectors on tracks 36-40 ( 104 blocks )

in vice it works only with 17 blocks .
anyone to know if the problem is with vice or .d64 format ?

It's a .d64 limitation - the number of blocks per track is implicit in the format.

The good news is .g64 should suit your needs just fine; it allows (among other things) custom speed zones, and up to 7928 bytes per half-track.

(.p64 should also work, but would be overkill; p64 stores the precise time and magnetic field strength of every flux transition...)

More in the file formats section of the manual ( http://vice-emu.sourceforge.net/vice_16.html )
