Capturing video from VICE
I have found where to record video from a running VICE session and the output is just fine, just very limited in resolution. Is there any way to make the capture using a higher resolution (just like what I see on screen that is doubled x2)? I guess I can drop all frames with ffmpeg, upscale them 200% with imagemagick and reencode but it seems cumbersome.
If I upload the lores capture I get now to Youtube, they make a mess of it when they reencode it. Looks like online video from 2001. |

You might get better results by capturing the window (at whatever size looks good to you) with something like OBS. |

if you are on Win10 Win+G works fine enough for capturing vice. |

I'm on Linux so I went with OBS with great result. Thanks for the advice Mr. SID. |

Since C64 is 50 FPS (Safe to assume you're using PAL C64, right ?) and 99,99% sure your computer resolution is at 60 FPS just recording the screen might not produce a nice 50FPS video. Actually, even just using VICE on a 60FPS screen is not that smooth. Change to NTSC VICE from time to time, you'lll see how freaking smooth it is then |

To view things like IFLI and such smoothly on PAL, from time to time I run VICE at 120% speed. |

Golara: I see, yes I captured at 25 fps I believe. It was my own little PETSCII intro that don't do super-mega-effects so I'm satisfied anyway. We shall have to hope that the VICE authors will put the ability to capture in a higher resolution in their software in future updates (I'm looking at you groepaz :)). |
