Sidplay for Nokia series 60
This might be old new to some of you, and please excuse me if this's been posted here before. Just for kicks I googled for sid players etc. and discovered that someone has brilliantly build sidplay for the Nokia Series 60 devices. This one works perfectly, and makes it possible to use sid's as ringtones.. I mean, who wouldn't want to have Crazy Comets at their ringtone?.. The samplerate is relatively low of course, and it's not made around reSid, but it's a billion times better than cheesy midi tones.. and a bit geeky too, I admit!.. Girls won't find this one cool.. ;)
Take a look at: http://www.cs.helsinki.fi/u/mraento/symbian/sid/
Just download the two sis files and install them on the phone (there are 6630 alternatives.. don't know what the improvements are though).. Tested it on my 6600, and it works like a charm!
Have fun.

Managed to get hold of SidPlayer for the SPV Smartphone. Bit wary of it though due to the reported severe crashes resulting in having to take out the battery (program very unstable at the moment) |

Unfortunately all C64 emulators on Symbian based phones and other devices .eg Pocket PC (maybe with the exception of Pocket C64) are all ports, therefore the speed leaves a lot to be desired.
However bearing in mind that most symbian devices run at just over 100mhz, you would probably need to code from the ground up in optimized assembler particularly if you want cycle exact emulation to run at a decent speed. |

A bit off topic maybe, but is there also something like this around for the Sony Ericsson K750i?
That would be nice...

I could be wrong but I think the sony ericcson k750i is not a smartphone (eg not possible to enhance or add programs (except java) So a c64 emulator would be out of the question. |

What's your firmware?... What I did was installing the non-6630 sis files, and then downloaded a sid using opera (should be installed on the phone too).. and voila.. The sid tune played in the media player... My firmware is: V3.42.1 (16-10-03) NHL-10.. We've got other 6600 phone at work with newer firmware, on which I could test it if you like.. |

algorithm: I dont believe a 100 mhz cpu can do cycle exact emulation. back then my 40 mhz 386 was struggling HARD with c64s, eventho that's a line based very weak emulator. |
