2 Wally Bebens in CSDB
while browsing in CSDB I've found that Wally Beben (famous composer) is added as the 2 separate persons:
Wally Beben
as Wally Beben
http://noname.c64.org/csdb/scener/?id=5987
as Hagar
but both entries are not connected, how to fix that ? |

Well, Pawel. He isn't the only one... Actually there are many of doubles and even tripples I think.

Yep, lots. And there seems to be no easy way to just link two entries together, you'll have to do that manually :( |

maybe one of the admins could write the script for fix that or I don't know. I can do it manually but it takes me alot of time. Let me know about it.
Drax: I know, but there are also alot of not confirmed double entries. |

There are basically two cases of double entries.
Before I will mention them I'll talk about the difference between a person and a scener/handle.
In CSDb we have sceners/handles which are the nicks used by the real life persons in the scene. One person can easily have multiple scener-identities (handles), and so it is modeled in the database.
Some info is stored directly on the person (real name, adress etc), and other to the scener-identity (handle) like relations to groups, releases, dates for when the person started using this handle etc.
So back to the two cases.
1. The same person have been entered twice, but with different handles (scener identities)
2. The same person have been entered twice with the SAME handle.
In case 1 there are two entries for the same person, having their own different handle related to them. Here the two handles should relate to only one person, and the extra person should be removed. This case we do not have a script for. (yet!?)
In case 2 the one complete entry (person and related handle) should be merged together with the data of the first, and thereafter deleted. This we actually HAVE a script for, so in these cases just mail/pm us the ID's.
In both cases the big issue is, what is the correct data? When double entries are made, sometimes there are a mismatch
of the data. Perhaps the adresses are different. How should one figure out which is correct?
In case two, one is selected master, and data from the other entry is only copied if the master dosn't have data in that field. The same will be done for the script for case 1 - when/if it is made.
So please also inform which ID should be the master.
Hope this was understandable. :) |

Personally I would've kept the one submitted first. |
