Organized collection for real c64 usage?
There is a lot of action on collecting various stuff from old c64 disks and thats nice! We have also gamebase64 which is kinda nice tool for emulator user loving c64 games but for people using real c64 its not so convenient anymore..
So, is there any demo/game collection sorted for real c64 user, we have lots of nice hardware like mmc64, ide64 and upcoming 1541ultimate but none of the current collections are not very usable for c64 usage, for example lots of stuff here in csdb is packed with different tools like rar, zip, bz2, gz and so on..
Gamebase64 could be converted to c64 use with suitable script extracting zip's and renaming resulting 8+3 compatible names with something else, but does such software exist?
For demos I dont know anything as there doesn't seem to be any sorted and extracted (or tool to so so) offline collection or am I wrong?
Why I'm wondering this it would be convenient to have big collection of demos/games available on mmc-card/cd/ide64 hd at the parties and meetings when theres people asking "I'd love to see that demo" or "can we play this..".. Most of the time theres no internet available and when you're intoxicated enough even simple extracting and transferring to c64 comes bit difficult and uninteresting job to do :D
So is there any solution(s) yet? What are you people using? |

Mass unpacking with sensible filenames and directory structure is totally different issue or maybe I'm nobrainer ;) Also theres still even .zipcode stuff in some of the archives..

I remember in the very beginning of my ftp site that I
had a lot of .lnx & c64zipped files, right now they
are all converted, problem is of course the length of
the file name, I don't really have the 8+3 names at TDD.

I kept all the files in the archive as d64-files and then zip the d64s.

there seems to be nice script for extracting different archives but it only works on linux environment:

Since a while ago, I have been doing something similar on MMC64 as Grue stated. As much as it is cumbersome to categorize things according to MMC64's (in)abilities (such as having separate directories for .prg and .d64 demos/games etc), it is still useful sometimes.
I was thinking that we will have complete floppy emulation someday anyhow, so I have been categorizing also .d64 stuff. The quantity of what has already been categorized is not even significant. Also the naming convention on files and directories may not be up to everybody's expectations, nevertheless I can pack the legal part of this stuff (i.e. demos) and upload it somewhere if anyone is interested.
