open source demo

Hy

Has anyone considered starting an open source demo? I think this would be very interesting. Maybe it will reach 'Singles Collection' fame :)

Quote: Mihai: The idea of an open source demo on c64 is simply unpractical. I totally agree with Graham, just use a monitor if you want to code. And if you want to take part in a multipart coop demo, just give your part to TMR for Singles Collection #3 ;)

Yes, I understand now, it was just an ideea after I read something about a thing like this on a Spectrum portal :)

Hello.

I like the idea, but for different reasons. It would be nice to have demos in source code form, be it open or whatever. For example, it would be nice to have Deus Ex Machina in source code form that I can immediately compile using ca65 assembler.

Why Deus Ex Machina? That way, I can look through the source code and see if I can fix it for NTSC mode. I would also go through the code and see if I can replace its IRQ loader with one that is compatible with CMD devices.

Having these fine demos in source code form would be very helpful in fixing these demos for suitable use on NTSC machines and those having CMD stuff.

Enjoy.

Some more source-codes:
Pixel 4k
Ich wußte.../I knew...

An open-source demo is in my eyes useless because open-source is only a nice option @ tools when you'll have to fix bugs or add a function. A demo is always when it's released 100% (or should be...)! But commented source-codes could be very helpful for c64-newbies (if there are any... ;)

Mihai and Zeitgeist: My unfinished tutorial is offtopic in this thread! ;-) But anyway, sorry for losing the motivation for it.

Shit! And I thought with nearly 10 years in the scene one should be grown up enough to leave the newbie-state... How long do I have to be in the scene to be a full-scener then and not as lame as I'm at the moment?!
