1541 - PC
problem:
PC is connected to 1541
1541 stays on (spinning) all the time ?
The PC, 1541, lead, worked fine. Then I re installed Windows XP, and all the usual updates (service pack 2, 3 etc). The PCs working fine, the problem is with PC - 1541

Quote: You should state how the 1541 is connected to the PC (ie which cable).

Quote: X1541 cable
quote : The X1541 cable is the original cable. It requires an SPP or PS/2 parallel port and it's compatible with all Commodore machines and drives that have the usual serial bus port. However, it's not compatible with the parallel port integrated onto most Pentium and above motherboards.
Answer : you need a different cable.

If I pull the lead out of the back of the 1541, the 1541 stops spinning. The 1541 works fine.
@WVL The lead is ok. I know this, as it worked fine on the same set up (before I re installed windows xp).

If you boot the PC with 1541 on, it starts spinning.
You should only turn on the 1541 when the PC is fully booted.
You said the hardware worked before.
That's not a guarantee it didn't break down later ;-)
Oh, and what WVL said. |

working now :)
Googled:
cbm4win 0.1.0a
gui4cbm4win 0.09
I remember from last time, these 2 (above) work fine
The problem was with:
http://www.trikaliotis.net/opencbm#v0_4_2a
OpenCBM 0.4.2
(for 0.4.0 and later, use the version from http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=122047)

Not too sure how it will go down, but I will send an email. One of his links is dead also, and its quite an important link. Quite why these types of web pages choose to host their files outside of their own domain space makes little sense to me.
As for stoneage software. It does the required job :) |
