Weighted Average
Something with the "weighted average"-calculation here at csdb is really wrong.
Jack Alien had an average of 9.7 with 19 votes but after me voting a 10 he had an average of 9.4 with 20 votes. Even with a weighted average this just can't be right. |

Doesn't matter how many times it's been discussed, it's still weird. |

Perff will correct me if I'm wrong but IIRC the explanation of the phenomenon is a simple downvote/upvote prevention function (for 1 and 10 votes). As the number of votes increase in time, and the votes get a higher value-spread, the weighted average calculation gets to it's normal level.
So, as strange as it might sound, but if you'd really like to downvote or upvote someone who has "suspiciously" too many votes on 1 or 10, a vote of 2-3 or 8-9 will do better than another 1 or 10.
But let me suggest something: don't vote at all. It became more obsolete than riding a Bundesleague mullet and starting a fight with an enemy scener on a Dutch copy party.
...says the 10th most active voter on CSDb :( *sigh* I'm lame... |
