2009 summary and charts
OK guys
2009 is comming to the end soon so maybe it's time to summ it up and make some charts for what was kool and what wasn't this year.
As I'm a graphician I'll start with mine 2009 best sid composers.
my nominees are:
best SIDs 2009:
Jeff: Touching clothes (aka intro tune in CSS 90%)
Geit Tjelta: Artillery
Linuz: Chronos of time
Booker: Excercise tune (from Silesia Party)
Drax: Brek-Up
Dane: COP75% main tune :)
my winner is Geir Tjelta!!!!
but Jeff was so close ;)
best party: LCP, Silesia Party (sorry I was only on these two)

best graphics: nominees are Veto, DeeKay, Mermaid, Joe, Sebaloz, Nada, Archmage

I'll come up with a full list, definately, but for now I can say my fave demo of 2009 is Still Ready by Resource & The Dreams. I really liked the concept. the coding, gfx and especially the Linus tunes are just amazing too!
I was really impressed with the Crest Slide Story at the same time.
Veto really amazed me in 2009 showing his graphical skills. not to forget to mention Archmage. I somehow missed Ptoing's art in 2009. Sabbatical year perhaps? And where the hell is TCH?
Lots of good tunes got released this year. Drax, Linus, A-Man, Intensity, Fanta, Jeff, Dane,... and I'd also like to mention Surgeon. too much skilled composers out there to mention them all really.
Vandalism 50, 51 & 52(!) were a great read. Hoping Recollection 3 will be out soon.
and best game of the year awards go to Berzerk Redux and Scramble 2010 preview.
Inevitable, a couple of sceners left us too soon in 2009. may they all r.i.p.
and that's about it for now. Would love to see other peoples opinion. |

speaking of 2009 demos I think Artillery was my favorite - especially because of nice gfx and design. |

2009 is over and was a really good year for c64 releases. the bar is set very high for 2010...
my fav demo was "andropolis" by booze design/instinct followed by "still ready" resource/the dreams and "misery 3" trsi.
also very entertaining were the both crest graphic collections "crest slide story" and "carrion's oldschool pixels".
best one-man-show in demos was performed by radiantx/panda design with "faux visage".
best intro were the ones for vandalism news 51+52, followed by the by the onslaught cracktro used for the frixxion prev/zoomania preview cracks and the avatar intro by sander and wvl.
depending sids my personal no1 tune last year was "artillery" by geir tjelta followed by jammer's "misery 3" soundtrack.
other tracks i was frequently listening to:
blackbeltjones - lob
grg - l-forza remix
jeff - touching cloth
dane - carrion's oldschool pixels
goto80 - automatas
kasmo - dubstep experience
leming/booker - 12 years later
psycho8580 - industrial dawn & liliana
on the gfx side i was most impressed by the works of joe, but there were some other graphicians who showed an excellent level of quality like archmage, carrion, deekay, leon, mermaid, mirage and oys.
i would like to mention sander for design, as well as bimber, frost, nada, sebaloz, skurwy and yazoo who all gave some delightful surprises last year.
