List of c64-groups by Country...

For some reason I did some quick research on how many c64-groups there were in various countries. I couldn't stop, so I queried each country manually, only leaving out those with only one group (usually fake, such as China or Zimbabwe)

Some of the results are quite interesting I think:

Germany as a winner was to be expected, but I didn't think it would be by THAT much. USA on #5 is a bit of a surprise. Denmark is extremely high IMHO, especiialy redarding the popularion (we'll get to that later! ;-), while the UK with all its Compunet glory is quite low IMHO. Australia is higher than I expected, while Finland is much lower than I thought.

Since the size of the country plays a role, i took the liberty to mangle together the number of groups per country with its inhabitants (taken from here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_population ) to get the number of inhabitants per c64-group. If you're judging c64-affinity, a lower number is better here! ;-)

The List looks quite different now:

As expected, the Country of Vibrants and Camelot reigns supreme! ;-) Sweden maintains its #2 place here as well, Norway and Finland take quite a leap forwards while Poland and Germany plunge in much the same way. USA takes a *huge* dive, so do France and Italy.

So, conclusions: Scandinavia (Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway) is very strong on c64, so is Germany, followed by the Netherlands and Poland, the UK and USA (RIP though)...

Now, I did this all by hand, but maybe someone more skilled with automated queries wants to do this with Sceners? ;-) And maybe correlate this with releases, to see how active the individual countries actually are?

is very strong on c64, so is Germany, followed by the Netherlands and Poland, the UK and USA (RIP though)

enthusi: wow, i totally didn't know the stats page existed (and yes, i did have a look around! ;-) How do you find that?

Quite interesting, also all the other stats... I do wonder however why the numbers vary quite a bit from my numbers!

Statistics can be found at the statistics tab up top, followed by Misc. Stats (Like statistics? Here you got some).
