Why coming back to C64 scene?

Hi all, I am writing a blog post about the reasons of coming back to making stuff on C64. Please share your thoughts:

1. why did you come back to the scene?
2. if not – why do you think you're considering it?

Thanks!

PS
I reserve the right to publish some comments – be warned! ;)

...

Although we can consider the C64 scene as “dead” there’s still some zombies marching around, throwing up pixels and SID waves. I was thinking about this phenomenon – what makes us coming back to the demo scene after all these years? Is this nostalgia or a challenge? Or perhaps demo parties?
Come on, we are all grown ups. Occupied with jobs and families. But it feels like one of this things – “if you could go back in time with what you know, would you live your life differently”? That’s the thing with C64 scene, you come back to the same 16 colours, 1 Mhz, nothing more, nothing less. Only that now you’ve got some fancy tools – memory card cartridges, cross assemblers, cycle exact emulators, packers and the power of unlimitedly faster CPUs to your hand. And your thinking has shifted as well – you see the same setup differently, as if it could do “more” and “better” now.

The other reason people are still here is because we'd miss being insulted by Oswald. =-)

When i see some high tech impressive stuff on e.g. PC, i say "okay, nicely done.. this looks cool"

When i see some high tech impressive stuff on C64, i get a hard dick and spontanious ejaculation, just because people still challenge the limits and creatively play with those limits, that makes me not quiting the C64 scene.

The 80's was kinda cool.
I'm really not into Nike, although the one creation they came up with was the Nike Air Jordan 6 (VI) Black Infra Red.
They are a work of art.

Nike re-released the Nike Air Jordan 6 (VI), although they changed Infra Red to Varsity Red (a darker shade of red).
I managed to obtain a pair some months ago, and still wear them to this day.

During Koshimo Preview V2 + the 1st end of level Boss is wearing a pair of Nike Air Jordan 6 (VI) Black ;D

I still find it difficult looking at Koshimo. I expected so much more from it.
The girls with yellow dresses and their 3 frame animation kills me. I wanted either 2 or 4 frames for the walking.
The coder insisted on 3 frames, which isn't such a good number for a walking animation.

well what originally got me into commodore was we went to crack parties in the early to mid 80's and go to someones house with 5-6 commodores setup.. and we were gamers and copiers. and most stuff was cracked. Not sure what the name of the group was since i was young. then at 8 years old my dad got me into repairing commodores and electronics around 84. and took off from there.. i bet i inhailed alot of lead solder thru my years. But then discovered a 1650 modem my dad never used and called one of his c= friends and got 3 phone #'s to call. and it all started from there. I did alot of uploading and downloading and repaired some commodores to buy a 1670 modem. and eventually a 2400baud interface which i still have. But i traded mass warez and so i always had a tonage of games around here. And always had a SX64 working so i could plug in a game at any time... Some times during recording music band sessions i would flip it on and throw some pacman in for the ladies or something hehehe. but when i got back into it i had a sx64 working and 2 other commodores. so i got a wild hair up my ass and repaired 6 more of my 18 commodores. and then discovered the uIEC. so i can back everything up on D64. and a XM1541 and you know how it goes from there.

Now i run 2 BBS's on real hardware one hardrived and one floppy ran 100%. and keep the spirit alive and come here to find some games that died on me thru the years. or ones im finding and play away. And currently have a 20X20foot bedroom with 5-6 commodore setups in it. 4 pc's, Sega Genesis, and a atari 2600 hooked up... so its game on anytime in this house...

Call my bbs sometime guys and Gals!

1. why did you come back to the scene?

After spending more than a decade of playing/composing music and working in audio productions I lost inspiration. I just wanted to dig back when everything worked naturally and things weren't f'd up. I ended up listening a long-lost, worn audio archive tape of C64 tunes. As a consequence, I made a SID remix album and re-started creating SIDs in 2009. Visited a scene party (ÁROK 2009) and found great folks there. Formed a SID tribute band with a couple of them. Registered to CSDb, joined groups, created releases, entered compos. Met great minds. Seen amazing releases that pushed the boundaries. Travelled back in times that I liked. Found old inspiration and fun. That's why I stay.
