swapping 2k12
This internet fad everyone is talking about, multimedia and the hype, it is not likely to last much longer. If anyone is considering some real swapping with the main elite mid-90s megaswapper, I am up for business again. 5,25" & 3,5". PM for contact info.

I understand nostalgia, but at first I thought this was an April Fools posting. I personally love my 100 megabit transfer speed at home. Far too many nights were spent at 300-2400 baud on modem's for tranfers, and weeks for mail trades. Each to their own, and I do see the benefit of custom disks/mailers, but oh well. Guess it is a legitimate posting.

It is not like I do not see a few benefits of a life on line with broadband the pace of light, but that is not the case here. Neither is it very much that one from nostalgia, why I must say your comment totally hits outside the board.
Everything is available these days. I have had my thousands and thousands of disks transferred and made available at places like this one, and so have plenty others. If there is an old demo I want to watch, I can rest assure of having no problems getting hold of it. However, this forum is also spammed with tonnes of new releases, of which I, despite my fast internet and slim OS, have no time to go through properly, let alone to watch or try it all out. For this reason, rather than the points you are mentioning, I would consider having a few good contacts to whom I take some time every now and then to actually compose a good spreaddisk - in order to get a few ones in return, to be a good idea.
I believe it would make it easier to actually see some good recent stuff (not released at the parties I frequent) whenever I have half an hour to steal from busy busy mundane reality. That parcel with a disk will lie waiting, probably even with a personal gubbdata note. |

On reading your points, I see what you're after. I agree it was always a fun time whenever I found disks in the mail, as well. And I agree at times there is a flood of new content here that needs time to explore effectively. Sorry if it sound like I was downing the idea, but thanx for the clarification.
