csdb account notifications / closures

I'm sure this has been brought up before, but I have to say, it makes no sense to close inactive accounts. C64 scene, where we are all old with kids and other stuff. and it's too much trouble to keep a small amount of metadata active in the database. strange one.

just my 2 pennies.

the only posts you made since your reactivation are those in this very thread. i can only assume that it means that this was what you needed your account for.

you asked why someone who visits not so often needed an account. I needed an account to write on the forum at some point - although it may have not been the sole reason I registered (far too long ago to remember). I wasn't referring at all to this thread.

ah so you werent complaining because you actually wanted to post something, but because maybe at some vague point in the future you might, and for that you'd need an account?. i can only quote the OP: strange one.

I don't know how this has happened. Intentional or some language barrier. i give up. its really very very simple, but..

to add, i registered 10 years ago to csdb, so none of what you have written really makes any sense.

the point is that you didnt post anything since 2012-06-22, except in this thread. so none of your complaint actually makes any sense either =P

then re-read what I have written, because it had nothing at all to do with wanting to post on the forum in recent days. that was just a response to your "why do you need an account". I needed an account (in the past) to post on the forum. and I did post on the forum. this thread was about the close account message.

so you did infact not complain about that fact that your account was closed and you couldnt post in the forum because of that - it was this annoying "your account well be closed if you dont log in" reminder email that you cant ignore when you are not interested in it? now i get it.

my account was not closed. I was questioning the usefulness/reasoning of closing accounts. (Although im so exhausted, I don't even care enough now to discuss it).

it was pretty obvious to everyone else.

"it was pretty obvious to everyone else."
all the people involved and interested in this discussion, yeah.

and as for your question - the reason is to keep the amount of inactive accounts small. we also dont encourage creating accounts just for the sake of creating accounts. if this is annoying for people who log in once a year and do not contribute - thats exactly why.
