WinVice question...
are there any built in options in Winvice to auto disable the Windows screensaver while its running?
I never noticed before that it allows the screensaver to activate while you are playing.
Probably because I always used to use keyboard and now I am using a USB competition pro.
Apparently windows doesn't register game devices as screensaver stoppers like it does keys and mouse.
anyone? (and yes I know I can turn it off but WinUAE has an otion to disable screenssavers while its running, so I thought vice might have one too)

no such option in VICE.....
it sounds a bit weird that a USB joystick would not wake-up the machine though.... (any HID should work the same here!). i'd almost bet that you can enable this behaviour with a magic registry setting =) |

apparently from a google search its a very common gripe in the emulator world (indeed any games that run off pads and sticks in windowed mode).
gamepads and sticks do not count towards input it seems.
so can I file this a feature request for the next vice update?
seems like a lot of other emus have had to do it too.

sure you can - and you should :) i wouldnt count on it being added anytime soon, unless you also come up with a dedicated windows-ui maintainer, though =P |

STE'86: Heres a build of WinVice that has the feature you want (along with some other nice gamepad-related features not in the official version.) http://www.lemon64.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=42474

excellent.
Thank you very much. this really should be submitted to the full release team as an innovation. if just the key/button mapping works then its worth a full release for this bit alone, seeing as just how many c64 games use this.
well done.

STE'86: I'm slowly but surely working on getting my changes/mods into the main dist. There are quite a few things I need to work out/clean up/add/re-code to make vice-team-friendly-code/etc, but I'm getting there :) In the meantime, just enjoy it as it is.
best regards,
