yes, that is what you get with idiot projects like hardsid.... Don't say people have not been warned this would happen!

SID chips belong in c64s... I don't just walk around castrating people, so leave the c64s alone, please.

It is a money thing of course.. prices of sid's will probably continue to rise, and as long as there are imbeciles willing to pay up $$$ for nonworking, gutted machines, this will not change. All the more reason to keep your collection in pristine order.

what makes me sad about hardsid/sidstation is that appearently most of the musicians who need them.... would need some musical education too in the first place.

For me the SID Chips are the soul of the C64, what the heart is could maybe a coder say. :)

Uhh... I thought that this would be some silly thread, but...

No, it's a bunch of C64's that were botched by some idiot. Seriously, there are missing keys! This guy took no care of these. And then he just wanked the chips off them.

Why.

My reaction was pretty much this video from 14 seconds in:

That idiots think well, if they like to use the chip even it is old, but - yes - at first before they definately destroy this great old machine they may have more respect and also musical education. Then they may carefuly release the chip out of it and after the experiment return it back! I still have my old Commodore 64 machine and even that I will be glad to have HardSid card in my PC I better use an emulator which plays relatively simillar and as the time goes more better! So you enjoy the sound of SID without need of destroying the old nice machine!

So, there you have a C64 with a borked PLA, missing keys, without PSU... why leave the SID in, then?!
