Request: REU demos
I'd like to know if there are any more REU-demos than Snata out there?

Not that I know of, and judging from the silence in this thread: It seems noone else knows either? |

I've never ever heard of a demo supporting the REU, except for Snata. Wasn't the real challenge to get something working on the smallest possible denominator to have an as broad audience as possible? ;-) |

Hello.
I know that Commodore itself released a nice REU animation demo on the REU demodisk. I forget the name of the demo, though.
Enjoy.

As most people today watches demo using Vice a REU-demo actually is for the broader audience since Vice REU-support is good enough. And with a REU the possibility for cool-looking impossible effects are increased, not by a tad but by a mile it's a pity when people havn't looked into it.
I'm trying to make a couple of REU-effects not seen on the c-64 before, but I doubt I'm the first making them (to be proven wrong would be fun though).. |

yeah, i've shown the globe and pound animations on the demodisks to trash, but that apparently wasnt enough =)
and shouldnt the smallest possible denominator be a datasette?=) and judging by the requirements of many spectrum, atari and amiga demos, they dont go by that rule either. |

I think Herlekin released a improved version (with fastload included;-) of the REU-demo shown at Tribute... Nothing but a nice animation though. |

Pontus, get a grip. It's not more memory, faster CPU or gfx-chip that you need. You only need to spend some time and re-learn all that you've forgot. |

The only REU demo I've ever seen used it for huge chunks of samples - think it was a tune by Haddaway? Can't remember the name of the demo though. |

I don't use the extra memory, no need for faster CPU and I use it for absolutely no other reason than pure interest.
But it does open up for some interesting effects... |

There was an animation on the 128 called El Gato, where it loaded into the reu and then animation played in both the 40 and 80 column screens at the same time. You just hit the 40/80 column button on your monitor and you'd see the different animations. Not a demo in the standard scene defination, but cool none the less. |

Mastermind of Horizon did a demo part for something, but I'm not sure if it ever was released. |

I think Morpheus was referring to a demopart using the REU. |

jackker: I'm on it :) but tshhh.. ;) I'll kill the scene with a REU+ANIM demo :) (not)
wow soiled legacy back on top 10, this is my lucky day :)
anyways I'd like to see more threads about coding kewl stuff, or how demos should look like, instead of using extra hardware for tad lame anims. |
