an idea for CSDb
I would like to see a section that shows images of hidden demos parts along with links to the demo and some text on how to reach the hidden part.
Maybe the demo makers could add some words along the lines of 'this demo has 3 hidden parts' or 'this demo has 2 hidden parts'. I think you get the picture :) |

I don't like the idea. See-for-yourself. There already is a database support "hidden parts". Having screenshos of hidden parts is as bad as having "game endings site".. (http://www.c64endings.co.uk/) that really spoils all the fun... |

however, after doing a search on releases it would be nice to have screenshots in the results list, like on c64.ch. |

Just took a look at that site. Heh. The comments the reviewer writes, quite funny. Lol! |

another idea for csdb minimum required screenshot size.
Screenshots like those: http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=26018 are lame and it's a _New Entry_ |

Perff,
1) Possibly have a lock option for threads that are way out of hand. You could lock them and it would not allow any more replies.
2) People in your ignore list are not able to add to your thread (this would have to be voted on, consensus or otherwise)
3) A signature option
4) Bulk upload feature to add many releases at once, maybe through use of a text file to indicate date, type of release, etc. It's tedious to do it the normal way when you have a lot of files.
5) ** great idea ** No votes from accounts newer than xx days.
6) Like Wikipedia, show any changes made to the database so we can see who changed what. This might be unrealistic but it works great!
Minimum screenshot size? There's the issue of MAXIMUM screenshot file-size and when you use animated GIF's, you can't always fit the GIF into the allowed file-size.

Well, long time ago most people agreed about a new lock ability. I have to agree about new people not having the power to lock or delete entries unless their access is elevated by a vote of trusted users.
As for the forums... stop creating forum software from scratch, perfectly working solutions already exist out there... majority of solutions include database and website integration...

Wanderer: #2 implies that you posses a forum thread, and "control" the conversation. This is, of course, bullshit. #1 as an "appeal to the moderators because I am losing" thing. And signatures... really, honestly, do we really want to have this place looking like fucking lemon or worse, with those fucking gif signatures? Ugh...
100% agree on having history and easier ways to upload, though! |

The CSDB forums do have a few advantages that, for example, phpbb does not - being able to read the posts over rss is nice, and the lack of ability to place ugly gifs in posts is nice. I'd like it if post editing was disallowed completly (he who controls the past, etc...), but I guess that's not going to happen :) |

Post editing only works up until the point a reply is made, yes?

Text signatures... I also hate those forums with the graphics for signature... Lemon isn't really that bad compared to some forums I've spotted that allow graphical signatures.
Post editing should have a time limit - say five minutes maximum. |

I think the momentary limit is fine... :) |
