Looking for super old music software
I'm looking for the following 64/128 stuff and hope someone in here will have it among their collection!
Mirage-Aid by Neo-Sync Labs
Mirage Terminal Editor by Steinberg Research
MVES by Ensoniq
Sonic Editor by Sonic Access
Synthassist by Northeast Visions
VES by Ensoniq
There's none of it online as far as I could search.
I only found the following Ensoniq Mirage-related software:

Would love to have these to try with my Mirage and any other old synthesizer librarian/utility software you may have! |

It could be that because these are related to specific hardware they weren't common in the cracker community.
Maybe you should try asking at a more music related forum like http://www.kvraudio.com/ ? |

Definitely very interesting stuff, which will hopefully be preserved!
Don't laugh, but have you thought about contacting the companies themselves, if they still exist? You never know who will read this mail - maybe they will be electrified that someone is interested in their history... And who knows what they have in their basement...
A few years ago, I asked at my local bank about a promotional game that they had given out for free in the early nineties - and behold, a few weeks later I got a brand-new, mint copy of the original game! :-) |

Isn't more or less all "serious" c64 software (spreadsheet programs and whatever) pretty hard to come by now and poorly preserved? |

Yes, definitely so - actually that should be something for all those bored crackers! ;-) (In fact I could imagine that some of those programs might actually have pretty heavy protection, as they were quite expensive - so the financial damage would be much higher than in case of a game. That is only a guess, though, based on my logic - which might be flawed. ;-) |

Yeah it's a shame and not only on the C64, Amiga and other platforms too, most of the "serious" software has been lost.
You know, I had not thought of trying to contact some companies. I am guessing most of these don't exist (example: Ensoniq. I don't think Creative will even care for my email :> )
Shame that cracking groups weren't interested in these apps too, and now we have nothing.
Lots of companies also threw their stuff out. I once contacted a company about an old Amiga software they made and they told me they lost the masters on a move. Careless people.
Forums like KVR I searched already, nothing turned up except for names.
I'll keep looking, but if anyone with a large collection o f disks can keep an eye out for any of these or any other synthesizer-related software, I will appreciate it and am sure the community will too :) |

Closest thing to an "archive" that I am aware of when it comes to the type of software asked for here is:
http://www.c64midi.com/C64midi/Midi_Software_Patches/Archive.ht..
...but I suppose it doesn't help much in this case. I also remember some similar page that contained at least a bunch of productivity software, but still far from a comprehensive archive. Sadly I lost the link to that page and couldn't find it now when I tried to google for it. |

yes, a lot of those "serious" things have very good (as in hard) protection. (famous example is "paperback writer") |
