DRAX has made some tunes in SRC format, but he can't remember what editor it was.
Can you help ?

Well, 3 of the files on the disk are of course made in the JCH-player. These are Funf, Kalver and Tktr. Player is 20.g4.
As for the 5 data-files, my money is on a player by Syndrom. However, I think the songs have been made in the JCH-editor first and then run through a 'converter' Syndrom wrote to adapt sequence data for his editor. I know he did this with some of my tunes as an example, but can't remember which of the DMC-versions it was.
Track table at 3800, 3900 and 3a00 for voice 1 2 3.
3b00-3d00 looks like an instrument-table sorted different to JCH. Instead of first instr #1 ad, sr, hardrestart, filter etc it's sorted ad ins #1, ad ins #2 etc. Editor would support up to 48 instruments I guess.
3d00 is freq tab with FF as stop or loop flag.
3e00 is wave tab with vectors matching flags in freq tab - just like JCH.
3f00 lowbytes for sequence data. 3f60 is highbytes.
4000 and on are sequences, FF as end of sequence flag. Sequences are packed, but do not use identical flags to the JCH-system.
So, it looks like this is indeed a variation on tunes made in JCH. I'd say there's a file missing with the main player to which this data can be attached. All it needs is blank space between tables and sequences removed for 'packing'. Probably done in assembler.
I hope that helps. |

Drax said he did make them in an editor, not converted from JCH-->something.

OK, not familiar with it then. I'll put my money on DMC6 or Sync. |

We eliminated SYNC, coz it cant load the files..
So the hunt for DMC 6 is on. It's not in HVMEC.

Funk Test does have similarities with SYNC. $fe = padding or just ---. $fc and $fd = snd and dur. But it is not standard SYNC, 64'er Music Composer or DMC5 (can't be any of them because they use too much raster time).
My bet is DMC 6. Much of the data can be dropped into DMC 5. The only stuff that doesn't fit is the ADSR and other instrument data/pointers. Rest can be copied in carefully. wav table, sector data, track data (although the padding is different after tune has finished). I guess if somene gets bored they can append the player from some PRI tunes with adjusted pointers. |

Or simply mail Syndrom for the player. I know Dane got a copy aswell as I have - somewhere. There must be more people around having it. Metal for instance. |

Trying to remember.. I believe that the only music Drax ever did in players without an editor was the players by JO, 20cc and Laxity (before he did an editor for it). Besides that I think he did mess around with Rob Hubbard's player (like Laxity also did before he made his own player), but I am not sure he did anything else but play around with it.
Thinking about the Syndrom thing - I remember I got a package from Syndrom with his special tools, including a DMC-version that wasn't available at the time. I remember I worked with it for a while (maybe because of low rastertime usage, cant remember exactly) but never finished anything with it. I do believe that files saved with this particular DMC-version were saved as .src files.
Maybe I should get a cable and look over the old disks again... |

XE-1541 works on all types of PAR ports.
You can order it here:
http://sta.c64.org/sc.html
Or get the specs, and have someone make it, or gør det selv :-)
