Paddle Controller Support in WinVICE64...?
I just bought a one-port pair of Atari 2600 VCS/Commodore 8-bit computers paddle controllers, waited for them while I geared-up to play _Le Mans_ { http://www.gb64.com/game.php?id=4311&d=18&h=0 }, a game I always loved to play in the Good Old Days but haven't played in since forever, got them in the mail,...only to then find out that WinVICE64 never supported paddle-controllers.
Quite a few C64 games require paddles. Maybe now's a good time to add new paddle-support in WinVICE64? ??? |

Maybe they'll fit in the VGA port? |

The serial port also uses DB-9 connector, so it must be compatible! |

Quote: Quoting hedningwhat puzzles me is that you bought paddles for your C64
Gosh, you ARE puzzled. What real C64? Who said anything about some real C64 that I don't have? ??? I said WinVICE64--it's an emulator, try it sometime, it works great...except for lack of full paddle-controller support.
Quote:Oh, and one more thing: Paddle support in Vice was added long ago.
You have to change mouse settings to Paddle in port 1, then press ALT-Q whilst the window is active to capture the pc mouse input as a paddle in-game.
That's not a paddle-controller, that's a mouse! I didn't think you wouldn't know the difference between a real C64 and an emu and between a paddle and a mouse. C'mon, man!
Bah! I'll just speak with the source--thanks for the link! You guys are the best and everyone knows it! hehehehehehe
10 billion dollar question: What is the similarity between a mouse and a paddle (hint, has somthing to do With potentiometers)?
Anyway, this was funny! |

Quoting TWWWhat is the similarity between a mouse and a paddle
Both are opcodes; one is shy and the other is an exclusive oar. |

i wonder how you are planning to connect those paddles to your PC
Planning done already, now I just do, with an adapter, Atari/Commodore <-> USB, such as this one shown here:
http://2600-daptor.com/
albeit my adapter is a little different, allows for two controller-ports for one USB plug hehehehehe |

Quoting WinstonSmith6079with an adapter, Atari/Commodore <-> USB, such as this one shown here: http://2600-daptor.com/ Then you should request support of that adapter with VICE dev team, if it isn't supported yet via the standard HID APIs already. But don't expect any wonders in responsiveness, USB adds more delay on top of the emulator delay. Also, real C-64s are still affordable. |
