SID speech synth
Hey !
Once there was a tiny program on a diskmag, you typed in a text, who was kind of speech-modeled replayed.
The fascinating point was, it was using sid only.
I traced it back in before 1990 ...
Can anyone tell me sth. about the program or where I can get it or more easier: on what diskmag and what issue it has been published ?
:-Z
Thank you in advance ...

It's called "SAM", or the Software Automated Mouth. Google found it here: http://www.members.tripod.com/the-cbm-files/speak/ After loading it, type "]RE" to enable Reciter, so you can SAY"ENGLISH WORDS". If you don't, then you have to spell things out in its phonetic codes which I don't have a reference for.
EDIT: Found the manual on project64: http://project64.c64.org/misc/sam10.zip |

Although this is apparantly not exactly the program I was looking for, it is a good alternative.
Thank you very much for your efforts.

The pronounciation of 'bloemkolen' is horrible.. at least that is what I recollect from 1988 or so.. It should be possible to tune the voice so as to sound like a woman.. (regretfully SAM lacks a 'sweet whisper mode')..
OK. After playing with it, the Dutch 'oe' vowel is best approximated by the English 'oo' sound..
Nice program btw..
Please note that especially Agemixer is an expert in emulating robot voices. (Nothing like the 'tchwainghhl' sounds by JCH :))

One of them BASIC extenstion versions can use a little tweaking and use them for demos - I atleast tried to with my Half Demo.
I remember one of them using the same colour scheme as 6510+ Assembler - grey background and yellow writing. Another syth used blue background and white text. |
