Amica Paint crashing

Does anyone have an Amica Paint that won´t crash in Vice?
I am currently using V2.0 but it sometimes freezes on me.
Not a big deal really, nothing is lost. (char=2000-3F40/colors=F800-FFE8)
Still,it is becoming a pain..

I think Art Studio isn't really the best solution as it lacks of char-grid and the color-picker is a bit annoying as well. Also there are no handy keyboard shortcuts and stuff that makes a graphician's pointless life much easier (at least according to what I remember from the last time I used it - hm, and that was something like, what, 10 years ago? So I'm not sure if the editor was improved since that).

Another option is to try using Zoomatic, however, it also seems unstable, crashes often.

Quote: Jailbird, I dont think it crashes at all now, those routines were rewritten atleast 2 times since you last used it. Maybe you should give it a go ? :)

fact is ppl are too lazy to give feedback, and users will always do things a coder dont expects.. if noone tells me this or that bugs, how should I fix it ?

Hey Tch!

Perhaps it's Vice emu which crashes for you. Are you using the newest version of WinVice? Afair some of the older versions (1.17?) crashed after about 45-60 minutes of idling. It's fixed now in 1.19.

yeah I've had problems with Vice crashing when running in the background, I don't think it's just an Amica thing.

If anyone is looking for a PC editor, I'd also recommend trying GangEd. There are one or two useful things that are missing (a copy/paste option for instance and it would be nice if you could zoom in the "second view" as 320x200 on a 1600x1200 screen is very small!), but overall it's quite nice!

WDStudio 1.0 is also a nice alternative.
It's a PC tool tho..

Hey, I don't use their tools, I just love knowing that they exist while the rest of the world is struggling. I'm a sadistic bastard.

Anyway, you're just jealous :)

Thank you all for the replies and good links. 8)

Using a real C64 is not an option,my TV is very old and the colours are fucked up. ;)

Phantom: Thanx for the offer but I´ve downloaded a V1.8 from here and the language doesn´t matter much.
It hasn´t crashed yet,so there might be hope..

Clarence: Yoh! I know about Vice 1.17 crashing after an hour or so,found it out myself. :(
Anyway,that picture is finished,see it at Forever 7. ;)
I do think it is AP that hangs, the screen just turns black.
When I Alt-R,everything is still in memory.

As for the other tools..
I like Amica Paint and haven´t used the others before.
Matter of fact,I´ve never even painted with a mouse..

He johan,

Als je hardware nodig hebt zoals een monitor kan je me altijd vragen. Meestal heb ik wel een paar staan. Ik hoor het wel.
