KCS (keyboard controlled sequencer)

This is a old wellknown midi sequencer for C64, even a danish techno band called the Overlords still use it!

I can find it nowhere.

It was also for the Amiga and PC in old days..
Maybe one of Steinberg's first products.

Search your tool collections!!
Lets find it!

KCS was by Dr.T, see here: http://www.foryourhead.com/DrTs.htm
Steinberg did Pro16. There was some info about cracking it on Forum64.de but I can't find it at the moment.

EDIT: here.

I can't imagine The Overlords still using it - they haven't released anything for over a decade :P

Front 242 apparently used a C128 in '86 for their sequencing, not sure what software they used tho but you can see it here

around 6:25 and a few seconds later a screenshot.

:)

They also credited Commodore on their Tiranny For You album released in '90 or '91 but that was prolly for Amiga related stuff.

Sorex it looks like it's in 128 80 colum mode, so maybe that narrows it down a bit

I have KCS 2.0... In an original box with manual etc. It is from 1988. I got it as a side effect of buyig a MIDI interface I bought from "Sandinge Import & Data" in the end of the 90's. :)

Since it is c128 only, I never really tried it. Anyway, since a long time ago I have it as a .d64 on my hd.

Dunno how to spread it though. I would not count as a scene release due to the (from my point of view) senseless exclusion of non scene releases on CSDb (despite such software being interesting to have)... I hope Scout feels very satisfied now. ;)

I wonder what the minimal intervention is to make it count as a "scene release". Hehe...

A C64 version is yet to be found, I guess.

Well.. what the fuck.. here it is:

http://lcp.c64.org/kcs2.0_c128_1988.zip

(I put "supplied by Frantic" in the filename of the .d64.. hehe.. dunno if that makes it a scene release? ;)

Edit: Btw, since I never tried it (have no c128) I can't verify that it works. It didn't seem to start in c128-VICE, but that my well be due to no MIDI-cartridge being inserted in my mac. ;)
