Text:Well Well. What have we got here? A triadaculous gfx colly that was conceived at the recent TRIAD meeting "Rakvattnet II", 2-3 July 2012 in Umea/Sweden. The idea with this collection is to liberate art that has never been shown on the C64 before. The five ZX Spectrum pieces were included to show what a different approach to pixelling is used - on a platform sharing limitations similar to the VIC. The two remaining pictures were made with C64 hires restrictions in mind but never tested on real HW. Minor adjustments have been made to make all pictures comply with C64 hires. Credits in order of appearance... "Atlantis of my dream" by Paracels, "Dee" by Relict, "Humming bird" by Diver and Prof, "Nice day" by Prof, "Where the wild things are" by onek, "Noirman" by HMC, "Way to" by Prof. Credits for Liberation... Idea by Twoflower. Code by Ruk. Intro screen by Romppainen. Charset by Houbba. Music by Kristian Rostoen.
...And now over to the important stuff. Party report! Idea sparked by Tao, realized by Ruk, this turned out to be the most packed TRIAD gathering in many years. Mountainously featuring the northern power quartet: Ruk, Houbba, Twoflower and Icon. representing Suomi Finland and Varmvattnet: Tao. and finally Sweden's southest: iopop and bepp. Supporting with hw and place was lead-Jorgen.
The trip to Umea was a firstie for us (bepp and iopop) and we kinda xpected to see polar bears and laplanders joiking in the street! But we were greeted by a really nice town and people that seemed... a lot like us, although a bit slower. You see laplanders are famous for taking their time. At lunch time the late arrivers Tao and Twoflower finally showed up and we had a tasty indian course, washed down with Kingfisher beer! We enjoyed the weather for a while but soon got down to business. In a generous cellar which would be our home for the next 32 hours we hooked up our gear. Ruk demonstrated the kickasm-based framework that he has been working on. Houbba assisted with git wizardry. We also got to see some work-in-progress parts by iopop and Tao. Rest of the day was spent watching demos, reading old datormagazins, eating taco chips (bepp's special), drinking coffee, beer and doing the codez. The hours flew. Hunger reminded us that it was dinner time. O'Learys = epic fail. We had to wait an hour for our burgers - in an almost empty restaurant!!! We agreed not to press 'like' on their facebook page. On top of this we were harassed by a pack of evil seagulls. If I only had my shurikens... grr... anyway, back to the pardey place we kept on going until we faded. Next morning greeted bepp with 4 chokladbullar, as is customary at these events. iopop did the armhaevnings while Tao slept in the sauna. Ruk, Houbba, iopop and Tao was working on old/new parts, Icon worked his way through his old disk box finding a bunch of unfinished routines that maybe will see daylight eventually. Twoflower and bepp dug deep in the history book. In the late afternoon it was time to wrap-up things up and head back for the airport. Summing up, it was two awesome days in Umea - from now on TRIAD city, meeting the other TRIADers (some for the first time). Great mix of competences and personalities! We rock! See you guys soon!
