Event id #3368 : X-Mas 2023 Compo
Been thinking about what Raistlin said in the comments:
Quote:All the entries for this compo are split between 3 different "compos".. but the rankings are for them all to be within one.
Shouldn't all releases just be set as "Mixed"? It's a single compo AFAIK, not 3?
Of course one could argue that the compo organizer makes the rules, but from the csdb / database standpoint the chosen solution here feels very strange, beause in most cases "missing" entries from compos means either "other platform entry" or "entry really missing / not found".
At least there's a comment by the organizer in the entry that will clarify the situation. But I'm not sure I we should rely too much on comments for the general database structure.
I'd also vote for putting everything into a "Mixed" compo.
Any ideas / opinions? |

I agree too. The Psykoz compos are the same. |

Okay, I changed all entries to "Mixed" compo, except the locked entries, as usual *rolleyes*
Btw.: can we get rid of this "locked entry" shit? As someone who is only active occasionally trying to fix / complete some entries it already gets on my nerves. |

It should have been removed long ago (just like external links).
Wont ever happen, of course :) |

Yeah, the locked entries thing drives me mad… and must drive the mods mad too. Any barrier that makes it harder to fix CSDb data will just put people off bothering IMO. |

apply to become a trusted user, then you can add yourself to the maintainers list of the entries and also decide to remove every maintainer of the entry to make it open. It was done many times when the sole maintainer was banned or anyway a closed account. |

*fixed*
Yeah only real sense of "LOCK"/"Set Me Maintainer" is to stop stupid Edit Wars.
In the cases here it was just done by authors for no reason in particular, bad habit everyone should break |

When it was introduced, it wasn't even about edit wars - those are easy to stop (banhammer if you must).
The reason was that someone started deleting stuff from the db, and at the time there wasn't any logging either, so stuff was removed for real and couldn't be restored.
However, that problem is long gone so that feature doesn't really make sense anymore. It only gets in the way. |
