If no file is uploaded before 21.00 CET I will delete this entry.

Perhaps start with the lots of much older entries that have no file either =)

Groepaz: If you mean newer releases without files: They have files, but deleted ones. Which show the mods that the release in question exists, and can stay in the database. In this case the release is said to have been released, and is a first release, but it's not here, or on the boards. But now it's here, and we can all rejoice and celebrate.

hedning: there have been plenty cases of new entries that do _not_ have deleted links. should i start deleting them? :)

Groepaz: New releases? Really? I have deleted a few already. What have I missed? (And no, I don't mean old vaporware - I mean stuff from today that is said to have been released, for example 2085 and 2086 from MYD).

Both ARE available on a BBS we are not allowed to give an entry here due to 1338 rulez

The Ryk: I am dead serious. You have been able to upload (and then delete) the entries since day one. There are three options: (1) Upload and let the file stay, (2) upload and make the file visible for logged in users only, or (3) upload the file and then delete it (making it only visible for moderators). The last option is the one to pick if you release new commercial games. Not uploading the entry is not an option. This way we ensure the integrity and completeness of the database. If a new entry is created without any proof that the file exists it will be deleted. The only exception is old vapour-releases where there are no file available; thus we are looking for that particular lost file.

Adding and deleting a download link is a very good way of handling cracks of commercial releases and avoiding that they get lost; but while I am not into the cracking scene, I do hang out on CSDb A LOT - and I wasn't aware of that rule or method of handling things. So maybe it could have been communicated a bit clearer.
Just my 2 cents.

it WAS comunicated clearly - in the crack rules. which someone had the bright idea of removing them alltogether.

The rules were all in all focused on when CSDb was a first release site. We will add some simple rules.

All cracker groups do this, and have done that for years. For demo groups the "rules" don't make much sense. But when new cracker groups pop up it's good to have the rules written here. We'll add them.
