Old Demos from JSL 1993
hey,
I was just wondering, you all Preserve C64 scene with uploading stuff to CSDb.. I spitted thru my disk collection, and found two demos I put together with Demo Designers and Linkers. One demo has a Dutch scrolltext. They all have graphics from me dated 1993, shall I upload them or are they named LAME and CRAPPY. It's a demo called Fear of the Dark, after Iron Maiden's album. And The End Complete, a demo which came because I started with Amiga. Demo Designers, Linkers, Packers, Musictool etc. - Somehow this is LAME stuff.

If it hasn't been released already, it's your decision if you want to release it or not. |

I swapped these demos to my friends during 1993, but these friends all gaveup C64 so I guess they can't upload these demos, one demo is 2 parts the other 3. Some sort of Graphics demos, the graphics have been seen already since I released a while back "Old Stuff/JSL" some disks with old JSL graphics. Will see if I upload them. |

Seems like you should add "Johan" as one of your old handles, as the demos mentioned above are not released by JSL. |

Why should I add my firstname, Johan. While JSL stands for Johan (first letter) too. Even I had more handles in the past, from 1990 till 1993 I also used Mega Science in about 3 disks with basic demos and 9 disks with EMC graphics. Illustrated Illusions was also used shortly. When I joined Slash Design it became Cobra. Cobra is mentioned in my profile here at CSDb as I used it again in 2000 with Axelerate. And "Johan" was very shortly used. |

Good. I added "Johan" and "Mega Science", and if you read the Handlestory comment on Mega Science, don't come with "upload those three disks full of basic demos" I know that I shared with you guys BASIC JSL 1,2,3 and that are quite good demos, the demos I did in 1990-1993 under Mega Science are all pieces of crap, in the past I released some demo packs here on CSDb, there you see some of the gems from 1990. Because some demos have offensive texts and are quite gory sometimes (horror) I don't upload them. I know that you rather want them, as this is a database preserving c64 stuff. :D - The same is for the 9 disks of EMC pictures, V-12/Tropyx has them and wanted to do once a collection of them, still didn't. It are my first graphics done on the c64, with Magic Disk's EMC Editor, extended multi color. |

JSL.. My first trained "crack" was Jumpman JR.
The intro was a combination of basic and ML (data statements) in order to play the music, sprites and other junk on the screen.
I lost that. Released it under, and get this.. D.I.S.C.O. (divine inventions soley for commodore owners..).
There were a couple other cracks I did later on, just trainers really. I think dangerous dan, r-type, cybernoid and man, I can't recall the other game.
My first ever NTSC fix for an ECI editor I still have, but, that one has drawbacks, just saved the chunk of code I fixed, have to load it into memory after main proggy is run.
Sucks losing code stuffs. I know I have a few more demos out there, just hard finding them. I also wonder, what I ever did with my kernal, bbs software and the 4 sfd-1001s I had. I thought of this because I came across some software today that had a dongle, and I remembered cbase needed one.
Fun times those were man.. Thanks. |
