JCH NewPlayer 21.g5

Since I don't use np21.g5 myself I haven't caught a serious problem with the previous upload. It seems the packer didn't parse all the player code, therefore the filter data pointers ended up pointing at garbage data when using NP-Pack 5.4beta (and previous version as well). I've uploaded a new zip-archive with the player, packer and demos, where actually only the packer has been updated. So, for the few people that actually use JCH still and fancy using np21.g5, you'd better download the new archive or tunes using filtered instruments will come out wrong when you pack them. ;)

Release is here:
JCH NewPlayer 21.g5

Cheers!

Thanks =]. I didn't notice the packer doing odd things so far, but still, it's better to have something which works the way it's intended to.

Yes it is.

The bug only occurs with 21.g5, not the previous versions. Filter data NEVER work with 21.g5 and NP5.4 and older.. sadly!

Thanks God, I've noticed this bug today.

And what to do if JCH + 21.G5 crashes?

I've converted old tune form 20.G4 to 21.G5 and, after 4 hours of work, editor crashed... :< Is there any SYS $XXXX or smth to get editor back?

sidder, how did you manage to convert the tune? or did you rather type it in again from scratch, hex by hex? because, merging ain't exactly working - i wished that would have worked with the earlier speedplayers as well ..

also, for the record - i got down to 21.g4 again because a certain frequency-bug is gone. =)

Conversion? I just used "JCH Swapper v1.0" - it _seems_ to work when converting form 20.G4 to 21.G5.

There are other nice tools for JCH, e. g. SoundRipper, Graphic Player and even DigiEditor (anybody knows how to use this?) - do not miss them. ;)

JCH Swapper theoretically is able to convert every newplayer file to every other newplayer file, but I've noticed that after 20.G4 -> 21.G4/G5 conversion editor crashes. It doesn't hang out exacly after loading converted file, but sometimes after 20 minutes of working, or even a few hours. Maybe Laxity knows the reason?

at some points, jch tends to crash for some reasons - even when the tune is being built from scratch. =) because of that i started to save my tunes a gazillion times, so that crashes hurt me less. from the top of my head, twoflower is also a reporter of randomly appearing jch crashes, i think he ran into them even more than i did. =)

sys $c803 (if I recall correctly) works most of the time in the usual version of JCH.. shouldn't be different just because another player i used I think (if this crash is due to the old problems, that is..). However.. no promises..
