Winvice: Screen shot error
I just wanted to add screen shots to my uplaods, so I started wainvice (no PAl emulation), load the .d64-file and pressed ALT+C.. Thwn I get to save the screen shot but when I press Enter, I get the message:
"No driver selected or selected driver not supported"
Anyone knows what's going on?!

you have to "Select Driver" to tell Vice which format you want the pic to be saved: BMP, IFF, PCX, PNG. This may vary depending on the platform and Vice version/build. |

And to be able to upload the image without any further converting you should select PNG. |

I've always made my screen shots using the "PRT SC/SysRq" key on my keyboard. Then, I'd go into PAINT, hit CTRL+V, then saved it, only to edit it again in CS (for features like cropping). |

Similiar here, just printscreen and then open the resulting .png from my desktop into gimp. (Or if i have the mouse in my hand i just tap the icon that links to gnome-screenshot ;) )

Why not simply hit ALT+C & save directly as PNG instead? Must be much faster & more convenient. |

Alt-C doesn't catch the beautiful pal emulation. |

All I do to get a screen dump (yes, that's really what it's called!) from WinVice is to press the "Print Screen/SysRq" key on my pee-cee, open up a graphics viewer (IrFanView is what I use most frequently), load any image into it, then press CTRL-V to past it over the image that was just loaded. From that point, I can crop, resize if necessary, and then "Save As" in any web-friendly format - .GIF works well for C=64 images for my purposes because of the limited color palette the C=64 has and there are absolutely no .JPG compression issues - though you can choose from any of a number of other image formats available. |
