Buying Commodore hardware

Buying an old shape Commodore 64 in good fully working condition is so difficult. Ebay appears to ideal place, although time and time again, I’m outbid by people who are obviously deperate for a Commodore 64. It makes me wonder who these people could possibly be.

My Commodore 64 boots up, but has issues. Random dots appears on the screen, as and when. Editors are out of the question, and running demos is hit n'miss.

It greatly depends on the country where you're in, but in The Netherlands it's not that hard to get a working C64.
A full set with drive and some additional stuff will change owners for around 20 to 40 euro.

[edit]
Check PM ;-)

yeah, you should ask around, for example people who come to the same party as you do.

and on ebay, look for auctions with typos in them, "commandore 64" etc =)

sounds like an old tired VIC.. you could try heat-sinking it if a replacement is too difficult for you to track down.

I might have a spare VIC for you, if you want to try.
Let me know what version you'd like to have.
It won't cost you more than a stamp :-)

I've found flea-markets to be the best source for 8-bitters, here atleast.

Although, the well is getting dry in recent years, very dry :(

Same here: a lot of 'traders' emerged from the retro hype of recent years, resulting in high prices and low availability.

And since we're at it, I've got some hardware to sell.
For a while I wanted to build a nice collection, but by now I've come to the conclusion that I only want stuff I'm really going to use.

PM me if you'd like to buy the following:
- 1570 (working, but needs lubrication)
- 128D (untested, but I will test before you buy)
- trackball (fine condition)
- Robtek Gamekiller cartridge (working, in box, perhaps with manual)

I ship worldwide, but you pay the stamps :-)

Managed to win an old shaped C64 on Ebay :D
Its supposed to be in working condition. Lets hope so. From the photo it appears to be in good condition, boxed, and comes with the original Commodore Joystick, as well as some stuff I have no use for (tape deck, books, about 7 games).

While I was shopping for some new C64 stuff, found a new lead to connect to my Commodore Monitor, and a C64 scartlead to connect to my TV :D

All I need to find now is my favourite 8bit joystick. Its called 'The Arcade'. There's 2 styles, one with a fire button on the top of the stick, and the cooler one without a fire button on the top (it has a ball). I have one of these Joysticks already, but it don't work too well, and has been repaired more times than I remember.

It'll be good to watch some on the better demos released in recent times on Commodore hardware, as while VICE is good, it don't compare to the real thing.
