Amica Paint crashing

Does anyone have an Amica Paint that won´t crash in Vice?
I am currently using V2.0 but it sometimes freezes on me.
Not a big deal really, nothing is lost. (char=2000-3F40/colors=F800-FFE8)
Still,it is becoming a pain..

I was using the english edition of Amica Paint v1.8 for many years, and I can't recall a single crash. Perhaps you should give a try and downgrade. I guess you won't miss too many features from v2.0 ...

Or you could also try Project One (Oswald's PC pixel editor). It crashes so many times that you won't even notice the trouble witn AP v2.0 ;D

Thanx Jailbird!

Will give it a try,it´s probably the one here on CSDb.
Funny thing is,it only crashes when I´m surfing the internet, not when I am painting.
Too bad I always go surfing when I´m stuck at some point. ;)

Jailbird, I dont think it crashes at all now, those routines were rewritten atleast 2 times since you last used it. Maybe you should give it a go ? :)

fact is ppl are too lazy to give feedback, and users will always do things a coder dont expects.. if noone tells me this or that bugs, how should I fix it ?

It was still quite unstable the last time I used it...
However, as I stressed out many times, even buggy, it was still the most usable PC pixelling editor I've ever used!

And I can't find you on ICQ any more so I can't give you the desired feedback :) [290663627]

Actually Dafunk just surprised me with a new C64, the pixelling-booth is finally fully isolated from the sight of my woman (so I can pixel boobies and curly-wurlies without getting into trouble), the equipment is functioning, I have the booze beside me, the screen seems to flicker as fuck - so prepare yourself for some fresh, poppy, 1997-styled images.

I have 3-4 versions of Amica Paint. Some are .prg's and I think one is a .d64..

Let me know if you want me to give them to you, and then give me somewhere to give them to you to.

Amica Paint v 1.5
Amica Paint v 1.5e
Amica Paint v 1.8e
Amica Paint.d64

I'm assuming the versions with the E are english?!

Also, why not use Art studio? Bitmap memory at $2000, char memory $3f40 and color memory at $4340.. Whole file resides from $2000-$4740 (i think).

I think Art Studio isn't really the best solution as it lacks of char-grid and the color-picker is a bit annoying as well. Also there are no handy keyboard shortcuts and stuff that makes a graphician's pointless life much easier (at least according to what I remember from the last time I used it - hm, and that was something like, what, 10 years ago? So I'm not sure if the editor was improved since that).

Another option is to try using Zoomatic, however, it also seems unstable, crashes often.

Hey Tch!

Perhaps it's Vice emu which crashes for you. Are you using the newest version of WinVice? Afair some of the older versions (1.17?) crashed after about 45-60 minutes of idling. It's fixed now in 1.19.

yeah I've had problems with Vice crashing when running in the background, I don't think it's just an Amica thing.

If anyone is looking for a PC editor, I'd also recommend trying GangEd. There are one or two useful things that are missing (a copy/paste option for instance and it would be nice if you could zoom in the "second view" as 320x200 on a 1600x1200 screen is very small!), but overall it's quite nice!
