codebase64

Anybody know what happened, it seems to have been nuked?

https://codebase64.org/ just shows a cgi-bin from 2017 and any links to a known page return "well this should be a 404 but they don't even have a 404 page"

Not much time left but at least to me he lost all credibility there ever was.

We do not care for the domain much and whenever someone can get it for a low price that would be fine. There should be NO hunt for it though. Here and a lemon post later word will be spread that someone didnt pay and a new URL is in place ... no? :)

@Oswald and all others who care - a recent siteexport is available under:

https://codebase64.pokefinder.org/siteexport.zip

It took us quite a few hours during the last week to get the crappy export plugin working with the latest dokuwiki. Their ecosystem is quite erm ... nvm.

However - the current export has a few flaws with unrequired directories and files and also shows that MANY contributors to the wiki dont give a shit on organisation.

Whenever YOU have written a vic, crossdev or alike article - EVER thought to categorize it properly or even just upload the linked files to right place instead of all just into "BASE".
Here - IMHO - it's NOT "All your base are belong to us".

Also updating files MEANS to delete old unreferenced junk. We deleted quite a few "no more secrets", "resurrection" and other archives - many just uploaded, unreferenced and nowhere explained. WHY?

We will try to fix and move around articles/pages as they fit but dont feel much like doing it all by ourselves. Anybody willing to put some time into codebase administration please PM frantic or me.

Until the structure and the resulting site export are not more proper there wont be automated site exports - just occasionally. (Yeah - dont know why the heck there are even php.net references or some page exports not proper unless they are moved and the wiki internal proper linking constructs are used - but I am sure with some docs all of the contributors can clean up their stuff with a few clicks. TBD on the wiki docs pages soon.)

@Count, I have no effort in this site except IIRC it was my idea to do it, but all credit goes to Frantic for starting it and keeping it running for so many years.

Cant be thankful enough for saving it, its a quintessential resource for scene coders.

The data has been safe all the time, so this was not a rescue mission in that sense. Offering the contents of the wiki as a downloadable zip file is rather an additional service to the users, made possible now by Count Zero. We wanted to do it already some years ago, but like CZ says, the dokuwiki export plugin didn't really work, so that was what stopped it from happening until now.

Cool to get positive feedback on the .com domain I bought... just let me know if we want to point that to some adress or even if you want to place the whole server at my domain, I will pay for that... glad that Frantic saw my only full of love to offer this .

Days 5-19: You can renew the domain for the standard renewal price.

Right, so if it expired on June 1, there are just a few days left to renew the domain for that price.

@Moloch: What is your take on this? I haven't quite understood if you plan to do this renewal? The way I see it, it would be excellent deluxe if you renewed the original .org domain, and then — if you do not want to deal with it yourself in the years to come — transfer the ownership of the domain name to me or to someone else that we agree on, and we will take it from there. TBH wrote (earlier in this thread) that he might be willing to pay for it, in case that is an issue. If not TBH, I am sure someone else could step up and do that. If you prefer to continue to own it yourself, that is of course totally fine as well, as far as I am concerned. But in either case, it would be great to renew the .org domain name while it is possible, so we don't lose it unnecessarily.

It looks like codebase64.org sold in the GoDaddy expired auctions. You can no longer bid on it.

It might still be recoverable for the original owner at this point.

Your new home for documentation and copy/paste matters is:

https://codebase64.net

Some smaller cosmetics to come to make it more clean to not logged in users (and the site export) - should all be done by the weekend.

We installed a Sitemap for a better namespace overview and a move plugin - maybe someone ...
