What kind of file is this?
I have a copy of Hero of the Golden Talisman and the dir says:
TALISMAN
A TALISMAN
B TALISMAN
is this from an old freezer or a copy of the original disk or what? |

pls upload the file
EDIT: oh well, to confuse us even more, look at the file 'ftp\c64.rulez.org\pub\c64\Originals\MAD\Hero_of_the_Golden_Talisman_[disk].zip\ Hero of the Golden Talisman (original disk) (~).d64' ;)
---
the one you found one of the tape version
the other one has a nice title picture, not only this loading screen found in 'A *'
check the third REM release (from 2000-09) of this game for a hint |

These are file zip's.
they should be
X!filename
A!filename
B!filename
use zipcode 2.

Fungus: it's not zipped
wreg: I did the (original disk) file you mention myself many years back as I was sure this is the files from the original disk, but I doubt it meanwhile?! (it's the same as the one I'm asking about)
I know about the loading screen but what's it supposed to have to do with my question?!

ok, then remove this 'original' and lets wait if there will be a clean dump of a real original disk, if there was a disk version anyway :)
the loading-screen-thing was from earlier today
before i found the third REM version, i thought the simple loading screen was from the tape, while the nice picture was from the disk version ... which then got falsified ;) |

It could be a frozen c64 state done by a Freeze Frame cartridge. Those also save multiple files with A... B... etc. |

guys,
'talisman' seems to be the loader which just runs the other two one after another
'a talisman' displays the loading screen
'b talisman' is the game file
each of these is perfectly runnable without 'converting'
doesnt look like zip, no?
graham, thanks for the info (though unrelated in this case)
is it really 'NAME', then 'A NAME' and so on? we should write that down somewhere :) |

True. There was a certain freezercart with these dirnames.
"!" and "X" indicates the filezipper...
