Best crossdev tools?

I would like to code and finish my old open projects.

Please give advice for me, which are the best avaible crossdev tools now?

For coding, for graphics, for music, for sound, etc...

Dreamass is the one I like most of the crossass. Timanthes is great for MC-pix, Ganged I prefer for some fast hires-gfx since it's more "coderish" with the simple monitor built-in. As a source-editor I use Bluefish but there should be plenty other alternatives. And yes, VICE would be a good start at the beginning... :)

KickAss, Java (for running KickAss, as well as making converters, proof of concepts, etc.), Eclipse, Photoshop, Power64 (lame, but it's the only emulator I can get to run on my Mac so far) and a calculator for calculating cycles and memory usage.

..and i would suggest Chinese green tea to keep you in a good mood while coding. Hmm, maybe it would be better to specify a bit more accurately *what* you intend to do if you don't want to browse through that long list of tools and try them all out :).

Ignore my question - just realised not only were cbmplugs in the ubuntu repositories but I already had them installed :)

On of my old project was on C64 is the Prince of PErsia.

I have some old sources, and a lot of graphics.

For tile and screen editing and of course, sprite editing, I the Subchrist tools are ok(Spritepad, Charpad)
For assembling, it think Kickass with Relaunch64 is a very good choice(because i realy want to use some macro) (I think, I should save old tass code to seq and convert into ascii)
for sfx, i need new ears, because, i never did an sfx before, (and for music, i shoudl go trough the old files, or hvsc, because the soundtrack should be there. :)

maybe need some ifli converter, to contert the title screen again, because i didn't like the previous multi picture)

some bmp to sprite conversion is needed to, because a lot of gfx are found in bmp.

(and then I need a time machine, to have enough time, to do it. :)

so when i summarize them:
what i realy want,
-a good text editor with syntax highlight,
-an assembler, with macro capabilities (and start after compiling in emulator)
-char and sprite editor,
-some pc to c64 gfx converters (ifli, fli, mc, sprite, char)
-music editor
-sfx editor

there are several solutions for pretty much everything you want to do.....you should try a few things before actually start working with it.

as for assembler i personally like ca65 for its "professional" design and responsive developer. that kickass thingy looks interisting though, reminds me of rgbasm (for the gameboy) which had simelar features.
