books on codebase64
Hello!
Just wanted to tell people that a new book section is up on the codebase wiki. The info in there might be of interest for some of you:
http://codebase64.org/doku.php?id=books:start
Have a nice day and keep on adding stuff to the codebase!

You're right (but 1541 books works). I'll look at it. It is some cache issue (since I uploaded these over FTP rather than using the wiki system for that.)
Stay tuned! |

Anyway, I think it is fixed now. Let me know if there is still problems.

Downloads all work nicely now.
BIG thumbs up for including this section Frantic. I've been looking for these decent sort of manuals for ages!! :) |

Yeah.. Btw: in case someone got C64-related books of various kinds and if they are willing to pay the shipping over to my place, I volounteer to scan them and put'em up on Codebase. (Afterwards I can either send them back, if you pay that too, or just keep it or give it away on next BFP or so.)
Well, I imagine most people aren't actually willing to PAY for this, but well. Now you know that I volounteer to do the scanning-job at least. |

frantic , I have a few books that might be interesting.
the main one being programming the commodore 64 by Rae West. Was a very good book.
A few other ones, maybe 2 or 3.. what dpi do u want the scans? etc.

Nice idea! But what about the copyright of these books? |

true greg, suppose getting the author/publisher permission... how many sales would they make on books that are like 15-20 years old? today. also a lot of the books aren't so easy to get in print. Even years ago I remember looking for ages to get the Rae West book, and no one sold it (a friend sold me his book). At the moment I decided to get an MMC64 and RR-net.. even that isn't an easy task =) I will have to try outside of the UK to get it.

600 dpi is preferable I think.
There are copyright issues, yes, but I agree with chancer here. I think these books by now should be treated like the c64 games, which are available all over the net in these days.
The interest in preserving and making this material available is greater than copyright interests in these days, imho. (Even if you're not the pirate kind of guy, wich I guess I tend to be, in these issues.) |
