Handle id #11900 : Softrunner
I've recently unassigned a few releases assigned to Softrunner and Softrunner Group because the releases are not actually cracked but just frozen with Isepic and then anti-isepic'ed with the Softrunner tool Isepic Cruncher
These releases have "2828 SYS2066 SR!" in the SYS line. There is no proof that these releases are done by Softrunner. The tool is spread and could be used by anyone.
Most Softrunner releases have:
- an intro of Softrunner or Softrunner Group (SRG)
- or Softrunner in the game mentioned
- or "SOFTRUNNER" or "SOFTRUNNER 1986" in the SYS line
For a list of the modified releases:
http://csdb.dk/search/comments.php?search=remove%20Softrunner&s..
If you disagree with the change or you have proof that it is released by Softrunner or Softrunner Group, please let me know and I will restore the info. |

Do you know if Softrunner's tool has already been available to the public back in 1986? |

It's hard to tell but it was spread for sure. The Isepic Cruncher can be found on several disks:

You need to have the cartridge in order to freeze the memory and I'm not sure how well it was sold.
Groepaz, the CSDb search link works for me. |

isepic was extremely easy to clone/build yourself.... a lot of people had one around here (before AR came)
(and weird about the search, will inform perff....) |

I don't know about the SR version but I definately had the one from Seven UP in 1986. I think those were quite spread. K12 had a clone IIRC. I stuck with pure CCSMON which was way more useful. |

7Up's release won't produce 2828 SR! bla files though. ^^ |

I've now compared the code of Isepic Cruncher and Anti-Isepic V2.0 and the Isepic Cruncher of Softrunner is a modified version of the Anti-Isepic V2.0 tool by Seven-Up Crew.
Why did Softrunner change the SYS line text to "SR!" and not to "Softrunner"? Perhaps he wanted to distinguish his releases with the files that this tool produces. |
