VICE 3.1 Filter Farting BUG!
SOOOO!
leandro is asking for more examples of tunes that suffer from this problem - please tell :)
he also hinted that perhaps increasing the filter bias value to 3000 or more will remove it - please try doing this.
i will point him to this thread so i dont have to play the man in the middle.... |

Filter bias doesn't help much with fugly release/attack of sounds with low cutoff. Isn't the whole problem simple aliasing caused by lack of floating point calculations? |

This is one example Title Needed
Less "oomph" in the bass and snares, even when adjusting filter bias. (Not the same as on my c64c or other emulators using 8580 (hoxs64, micro64, older versions of vice) |

no. the filter stuff uses floats anyway iirc.
also please give actual examples and dont make this a speculation thread - that doesnt help at all. thx. |

Just a single looping pattern. Bass farting in VICE 3.1 - not on real machine or previous VICE. Psid64 exe and GoatTracker "source" sng file included.

Happy bughunt! ;-)
EDIT: oh, and setting BIAS to 3000 only fixes the crackling sound after instrument execution. |

It's clearly the CIA-emulation that causes timing distortions which disrupts the filters. |
